What a wonderful night spent supporting the @newsanctuarynsc.bsky.social. Their tireless work and advocacy to keep families together is a guiding light in these times of darkness.
The evening was truly elevated by the beautiful hymns of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, still ringing in my ears. (1/2)

Didn't post about this beforehand because didn't want to jinx it, but this morning I went to a habeas hearing for someone who was detained at immigration court 10 days ago, and THE PETITION WAS GRANTED.
What a relief. Ordered released within 24 hours.
βοΈβπ₯ We're glad for the release of three of the illegally detained street vendors, but these arrests should never have happened, and the federal judges who rules on their cases agree.
No more illegal ICE terror in our cities! #ICEOutofEverywhere βπ§

New Sanctuaryβs own Ravi Ragbir β who is also Ecumenical Canon for the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island β delivered the Jericho Prayer, which we recite as part of our weekly Jericho Walk on Thursdays.

In the afternoon, a crowd numbering hundreds of people joined with several other faith leaders from many denominations, convened by the Episcopal Diocese of NY, to surround the Federal Plaza and offer collective prayers in support of those facing oppression inside.
They found some solace in the blessings of faith leaders, who also also conducted this sacred ritual for building staff, government officials including New York State Senator @jessicaramosqns.bsky.social , and passersby.
Those heading into the building for their hearing were visibly anxious, knowing full well that they were likely to face unfair proceedings, or even the possibility of kidnapping, at the hands of a racist, economically unjust system inside.
A blessed Ash Wednesday to all who observe it. This morning, clergy members including Father Fabian Arias, Father John Musco, and Presbyterian Reverend Lindsey stationed themselves by the entrances of 26 Federal Plaza and 290 Broadway and imposed ashes on respondents heading into immigration court.
Immigrant New Yorkers should not have to live in constant fear of deportation. This is why we need New York For All NOW. #NY4All #NewYorkForAll

He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota βquick reaction forcesβ β a military term β to go after βagitators.β Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trumpβs prior βdeescalationβ was a ruse and ICE is still operational

β This is unacceptable! β
Detaining immigrants on a hidden floor to avoid a judgeβs order undermines the law and endangers human beings. ICE must be held accountable. π«π§

Abolish ICE and DHS. Shut it all down.
Meanwhile, our Accompaniment, Pro Se Clinic, SanctuaryHood, and detention support initiatives continue to grow. But we need more support. Visit the Get Involved section to join us and find more ways to help. Visit www.newsanctuarynsc.org/get-involved
More reasons to celebrate, more reasons to fight. This month, we celebrated Peter receiving a pardon, as well as the year since Ravi Ragbir received his. We were visited by Heury, recently freed from ICE detention, whose release we supported with digital accompaniment and an email campaign.
At this point, pretermissions take up 90% of the volunteering I do at immigration court. I see entire courtrooms filled with families DHS wants to send to Ecuador. To Uganda. To Honduras. They're scared. They don't know what's going on.
