We're hiring a new provost on my campus and i've been going to the candidate presentations and i think LinkedIn has had the same impact on the brains of higher ed admins like Twitter has had on your average republican congressional staffer.

My partner and I co-lead a short term study abroad course to Paris and the hotel the university has booked the last 5-6 times is on the rue daguerre right around the corner from varda's old house. the accordion shop was still there last time we went!
I don't think grammarly should just get to do "sorry deleting now" after ventriloquizing living and dead people without their consent to make money
I'm expecting some sort of commemorative mug in recognition
SYRACUSE: I am returning to BIRD LIBRARY where I spent a lot of time FEELING LIKE A FAILURE to give a talk from TINSEL AND RUST for the English Department's Graduate Colloquium! You should come!

that's not the intent of title ix.
i used to be a member of this punk arts/music co-op and a person at a meeting that was mostly deciding how to do bathroom repairs who looked like they hopped a boxcar to get there said "people who do shit don't talk shit, people who talk shit don't do shit" and i've never forgotten them
the world cup is my favorite thing in the world and the world's worst people are destroying it

adam silver has failed so hard lmao
Whenever any business, service, application, whatever talks about "scaling," what you should hear is "make money at the expense of the user experience." That's what it means. No one has ever "scaled" anything without making the user experience worse.
And the reactions to gas prices going up for Americans... I just can't.
The problem is not that gas will be expensive. The problem is that on the other side of the planet acid rain is falling under a black sky onto the craters that used to be schools and hospitals and it's because of us.
also an unserious offseason if the goal was to say 'you cannot be a total bigot and occupy a senior position in our organization'
Been a while :)
In retrospect the lists i assembled for comps were a) absolutely bizarre and b) absolutely vital for teaching me how to assemble a base for teaching, scholarship, and etc. My program changed to standard 'field' lists after i left. i understood the impulse but it was a real loss, imo.
Lots of people write about Richard Florida as if his argument is "cities should have more hipster coffee shops because Gentrification is Good" when the reality is that his argument is so much more insane than that
ernst tanner would have said so many things that still wouldn't have gotten him fired after watching that
And you know, you can extend from this to a real important corallary to "Everyone is 12 Now" theory is "There has been a generation-long project to keep people 12."
Conservative news and opinon outlets, regressive mass audience entertainment products, etc. all propagandize a chilidish worldview.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive
Itβs crazy that itβs basically just a combination of the single worst most disastrous parts of every administration in history
jfc
i don't know that there's any hope left here, but Hollywood and the guilds need to get extremely serious about finding a way to stop this transaction from happening
I know Iβve been asking for $ these past few weeks but in light of last nightβs barbarism:
if you would like to help trans folks in Kansas get a ride to their nearest DMV + cover any license fees they canβt pay, please consider donating with the comment βTRANS RIGHTSβ

I keep reminding people that admins hate English departments because they are popular (read: inefficient), not because they arenβt. AI is in a long line of technologies that promise to solve that problem for them.
The reason you canβt give a single inch on anything be it trans rights or dignity for unhoused people is that they, democrats and republicans alike, will take it and say thanks what else is in your pockets? They wonβt say thanks actually.
defunding the police is still a good idea
in a way i feel like he's a lot like nesmith was as a celtic - drafted as a shooter but found a way to the floor with energy plays. though nesmith was better defensively iirc and baylor is better as a rebounder. obviously if he became as good as nesmith has become that'd be a huge win
eugenics was "data driven" that's what the calipers were for!!!!
