A new writing-focused podcast that looks at the first chapter of a book and then extrapolates what they think the rest of the story will be. They were kind enough to feature my novel as their first book discussion!

"You've returned too late."
"Too late? For what?"
"There's nothing left to save."
"I'm not here for any of that," Anuhea said. "I'm just looking for a little old magic to repay a debt.

โI come seeking the aid of Anuhea the Many-Handed, as he was known in the human lands.โ
โWell, Anuhea you have found. But, alas, he who has only two hands. Not many."

Oh, thank you, but I already have an artist on call that I work with when needed. But I will definitely keep you in mind if I need in the future :)
Good question . . . I usually only have vague strokes for exactly how characters look. Just enough to get the idea and let the reader fill in the gaps. I suppose I have this for these two, Average Joe isn't meant to stand out in any real way.
Just an average Joe coming home for the first time in a while and an old priest. You know - standard fare.
Cosmic horror about something that washes out of the ocean and starts causing problems in a small seaside town.
Editing a short story, trying to shave a bit off of 8,000 words . . . end up with 10,000. I think I've done something wrong . . .
Gonna need a few more passes to trim this up, I suppose.

I'm delighted with how Sam Kerbel took a little thought I had that didn't fit anywhere and built so much around it. Definitely give it a read when you have a moment!
It's amazing how much of a difference that momentum makes! May five in a row turn into ten!
"This is different," Astra said.
"You'd better hope it isn't."

"People have wanted to kill me before."
"An entire army?"
"No, not quite that many."

Nice sunrise over the Han River to start the day.

Just seconding what others have said. Some people bring their own baggage to any and all interactions and aren't good at parsing their own experiences from tangentially related fiction. I wouldn't give this interaction any more worry.

I think I'm a bit weird in that the ending is usually the first thing that I discover about my stories. Most of my work is figuring out how everyone ended up there.
Same - some shorts come out more or less finished, but longer work always gets more discovered in the writing process for me.
I'm gonna need that goose to come by and motivate me soon . . .
