Indigo bleeding is called crocking. Yes, you “should” wash dark blue sheets until the water runs clear to avoid transfer, but with automatic washers and no prior knowledge of this , it’s not uncommon to expect someone would make this mistake. 2/2

It’s not uncommon for blue sheets/fabric to leech dye even after several washings. Deep blue fabrics from cobalt to midnight are typically dyed with indigo (denim, cotton, & wool). Indigo binds to the surface of the fibers and easily transfers to skin through friction and moisture. 1/2
