I've uploaded my 60-page family history document to NotebookLM, with pretty good results of being able to query the results. This current experiment is to build something myself. Still experiencing hallucinations and omissions, but it's improving.
Experimenting with generative AI, RAG vector databases, and family history documents. Mixed results, but improving.
I just checked. When I manually export from Apple Photos, all of the meta data is included. However, when I export via my script, not all of the metadata is included. I've added this to my to-do list - thank you for the suggestion!
My project to auto-generate a website leveraging my Photos libraries is going well.
Getting prepared for my movie collection scanning project. My personal holdings include about 15 hours of movies including 16mm, Regular 8mm, and Super 8mm film, dating from the 1930s to 1970s.
My photo scanning & organizing project is progressing. Over 12,000 family photos scanned, people tagged, locations added, dates approximated, keywords added, etc. Here's the organization for the first 3/4 of 1964, as an example.
My Mother-in-law Shirley wanted Tex Mex for her 90th Birthday lunch outing.
When you find a mystery tape in a box. Whatβs on it? Recording of Grandma? Nopeβ¦ darn.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Here's Mary Ellen Holcomb's fan - many in Simsbury!
Directly from Ancestry!
This is my tree to 7 generations after 50 years of research. Still a few blank spaces. Noah Austin's parents remain a mystery after significant research. Records are missing where Ferdinand Schreier was born. Wm Treffeisen was illegitimate & father not recorded. Fanny Humble remains elusive.
Please add me? Thank you!
Next question... who were the parents of Philip Kiger? :-)
When you search, search more, search for years, and keep searching. Who were the parents of Mary "Polly" Kiger? And then, there it is... In her words... signed... "I am a daughter of Philip Kiger and my age is twenty-two years." Dated 16 Sep 1823. That makes her exactly the correct age. Happy days!
Uh oh... just found that in 1814, my 5th great-grandfather, Aaron Jones, was found guilty of "keeping a disorderly house." This was, at the time, a phrase often used for a brothel.
50 years researching, but still have empty spaces on my tree.
BEWARE: Apple Photos will not respect your face tagging, and will REMOVE or CHANGE your tags, at will. Thankfully, I have used keywords and smart albums to monitor. Just added back my Dad's name to 87 photos the AI removed his name from last night. Multiple other people to fix now too. Shame.
That looks like a partially downloaded file. Once completed downloading, it would have been renamed probably to .zip
What's in the family archives? Photo collections (mine, parents, both sets of grandparents, several great-grandparents), watches, movies (16mm & 8mm), letters, postcards, diaries, heirlooms, tape recordings, and much more. Organization and digitization in progress.

And just when I am fully relaxed, the cruise is coming to an end tomorrow.
Relaxing day
No such issues. The documentation states that you need to keep the system clean from dust & debris, or this may result in the white lines. I bought a dust cover & clean it periodically.
I am currently scanning the photos / prints and bypassing the negatives. I have some packets with just photos, some with both photos and negatives, and some with just negatives. I'll come back through with a neg scanner in a second pass.
