It’s pie day! Are you a hot water or cold water crust person? Either way, we’ve got you covered with a lard tin from Humphrey Supply Co in Reno and a butter label from Churchill Creamery right here in Fallon!

It’s national groundwater awareness week. Most of us in the desert are acutely aware of water’s importance, but did you know that beyond drinking and nourishing plants and wildlife, our groundwater also gives us power? Check out our green energy exhibit to learn more!

We’re excited to announce our new temporary exhibit, SPORTS! This exhibit will feature historic and (relatively) modern sporting equipment to explore some of the ways recreation and exercise have changed over our community’s history. The exhibit will run from April to October.

It’s women of aviation worldwide week, and we wanted to show one of our favorite pictures. This is Ada Keddie, daughter of pioneer Warren Williams, posing beside her husband’s plane in 1921. She often flew from Fallon to Reno, and all the way to San Francisco several times.

On Mar 2, 1861, US President James Buchanan signed into law an "Act to Organize the Territory of Nevada." Nevada was created from the western part of Utah Territory. PDF: t.co/ENDJuC01SL
It was much smaller than today's Nevada, and had some border disputes ahead of it.

March is Women's History Month. Women have, of course, been integral to Churchill County for over 10,000 years and we try to include their contributions and stories whenever we can, including giving snapshots of daily life in our updated period room displays.

It’s National Pig Day! While pork has never been a major industry in Churchill County, pigs have had a place here since early non-Native settlement. Here’s a picture of Leslie Sanford showing off his first prize pig in 1914!

If you’ve wandered down our Maine Street period rooms during the last few weeks, you might have noticed some small changes. Curator Rae has been hard at work swapping out some artifacts. Doing this limits light damage and gives new artifacts a chance to shine. Come check them out!
