Puffed Out... Early morning. My little feathered sweetheart, Gina The Canada Jay, puffing out her feathers to stay warm, against the cold winds of the Great White North. A real beauty. ๐ธ๐จ๐ฆ

After overnight snow and strong winds, the forests around Loch Morlich had a relatively light coating of snow but the wind direction meant lots of the trees were coated in a lovely icing one side of their bark. A cold day with blue skies

"This is what the aurora in Iceland looked like today. From about 1.30 to 3.30 the whole sky was on fire. Every few minutes there were beautiful, winding ribbons."

A small fish called a Fringehead due to the growths above the eyes peeks out of a former boring clam burrow and glares at the diver making a lot of noise.
That little fish sticking its head out of what was likely a boring clam burrow is a Yellow-finned Fringehead. Something has disturbed his rest it seems... Fringeheads have a lot in common with Muddy the Mudskipper. A relative, the Sarcastic Fringehead, bites & hangs on without asking permission.

From the root of a fallen tree of long ago, new life. A new tree has grown in the most unique way. Rounded from the tree base and shooting horizontally through the forest. Tall trees and ferns surround this one of a kind beauty. There is no judgment, no ridicule, simply acceptance.
originality is irreplaceable

Waves break onto shore, islands and mainland far in the back with clouds drifting through the sky.
We actually have some โwavesโ rolling in this morning.
This part of the coast often feels like a bathtub. A bit flat and shallow.

A crushing
waterfall of tears
pounded
in my chest,
as I recalled
the wading birds
and wild geese
holding us transfixed,
that balmy day
we laid you
to rest.

G2 geomagnetic strom conditions reached! Lots of clouds here in Reykjavik, and I was in bed reading, but I was able to catch this amazing shot of the diffuse aurora towering out of the clouds and above the rooftops.
Happy hunting tonight, all!
