omg, it’s beautiful! 😻 I had a couple of fails and took a break but I’m about to jump back into it. Practice, practice, practice.

My other puppy is named Huxley.😏
How are we supposed to deal with collapse without all the happy weirdos? The blockers are missing out...their loss.🖤

Happy Birthday!
I’ve never seen one either, new to me! Check back in a couple of seasons and I’ll let you know how they’re doing. Happy to send you cuttings if successful.
I’ve had Aronia/Chokeberry and Currants munched right to the ground if they weren’t protected.
My raised beds have a homemade PVC low-tunnel built into them so I can cover them in light shade cloth to keep the deer from munching on my greens. A never ending battle!
My fruit trees in the non-fenced in area (like persimmon, honeyberry, mulberry) have 4’ tall cages around them….hoping I can remove those when they get tall enough.
It’s only about 4 feet tall and they can totally jump it but usually they don’t bother. I’ve caught only two deer in the last year that have hopped over it. Looks a little hillbilly but it works. This is where I keep my paw paws and hazelnuts and a few serviceberries and currants.
Ugh, I have a love/hate relationship with the deer. I love them. I love when they stroll through the property. But I hate the damage that they do. I ended up building a cheap fence on a 1/4 of the acre out of t-posts and rolled wire fencing.
It was a lot this year. I usually don’t mind but it seemed like it only snowed when I was expecting a delivery (which means a I had to clear the driveway). There might be a few N/As in the fridge (and a Budweiser someone left here 6 years ago…I can’t give that thing away!)
Yes, the downside is my 🐶 goes nuts every time a deer walks by. I have seasonal neighbors (summer cabins) on either side of me… can’t wait to see what they think of the new outdoor shower I’m putting in this spring. 🍑😮🚿
Not even a little bit…just a dusting. Which is fine by me…loved the 127.5" of snow we’ve gotten so far (highest in NY state!) but I am over it 😑. Spring can’t come soon enough. 🌱
Oh, most definitely open. I ended up removing all the drapes and spackling up the hardware holes and repainting since they were never ever closed. Drapeless in the winter is a bit chilly but worth seeing the outside!
So sorry, Monica. 🤎🤍
Nice! Still coming down?
Love that Rembrandt side lighting. Beautiful photo.
That goal was a real cracker! Literally! 🦴
I just read Parable of the Sower based on a recommendation by @ontopunk.bsky.social and gut-punch is exactly right. I thought I was prepared for a slow-burn collapse but reading this led to more than a few sleepless nights. Looking forward (I think) to the next book.
Be safe out there!

Each new problem requires more complex solutions, which generate new problems that require still more complex solutions—a ratchet that tightens until it breaks. #collapse
Mine is probably “The Humanure Handbook: Shit in a Nutshell”💩
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” …as long as they’re not black or brown. Some people need a history lesson to remind them what America is (supposed to be).
I woke up to -8°f so I appreciate this splash of hope.

Took me a while to get onboard the sourdough train but now I’m one of those people with a jar of starter named ‘Hugo’ in the fridge. #SourdoughBread #PracticeNotPerfection
Well, that’s unsettling. I’m already 25 miles as-the-crow-flies from the Nine Mile Point Nuclear facility. I’ll need to keep my eyes peeled for any new developments …and stock up on monkey wrenches.
They can handle dry spells once established but they definitely like it on the wetter side I think. I've plant them in a swampy area and they do okay but aren't thriving. These are going in a moist but not saturated area to see if they do better.
