10/ All of this was totally foreseeable. Frankly, it’s why previous presidents weren’t so stupid to start a war like this.

Trump has lost control of the war. His best course now is to cut his losses and end it. That’s the only way to prevent an even bigger disaster.

His whole life, Trump has always had someone else around to bail him out of the messes he creates: his father, Allen Weisselberg, the "adults in the room" in his first term. Now all those protectors are gone and he is openly begging for someone to save him from his own folly.

Every now and then, it's worth reminding yourself that every single crisis of Trump 2.0 -- the economic downturn, the chaos in our cities, the rising health crisis, the foreign wars -- has been a direct result of their own actions.

If they'd done nothing at all, they'd be coasting comfortably.

The rise of app-based sports gambling was the result of a Supreme Court opinion written by Sam Alito applying a doctrine invented by Antonin Scalia. Also sports gambling is not legal in Minnesota

'LLMs as a disability aid for ADHD' just goes to show how many critical misunderstandings people have about ADHD.

Like literally the best coping strategy for ADHD is mindfulness. Writing your OWN notes. Keeping your OWN lists. Finding strategies that help YOU remember things. YOU, not a chatbot.

ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose ‘targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

I used to think of the ADL as a group that advances a general social/moral principle (anti bigotry) in a particular underserved case, like the NAACP. Now I see it as just a right wing group with its particular fig leaf like the NRA. It is to Jewish people what Moms for Liberty is to librarians

Pete Hegseth's manly act is backfiring MAGA bros hoped the defense secretary would make them feel butch — with Iran war, he embarrasses them

Pete Hegseth thinks his butch drag is convincing. It was, at least for the MAGA bro crowd, for a time.

But now that he's waging an idiotic war on Iran, a lot of his fanboys are freaking out.

It was all manly role-play! They didn't want a real war!

Two things here.

One, you don't sit there and whine about media coverage and headlines if things are going well.

Two, the administration is just outright saying that they fully expect Ellison to use CNN to be a Trumpist propaganda organ.

Trump Outbursts over Oil Shock Go Off Rails as His Aides Quietly Panic As Trump’s handling of soaring oil prices due to his war grows shakier, an international relations expert explains why this saga will likely get worse—and what it reveals about Trump’s deeper failings...

Great point from @nicholasgrossman.bsky.social: From Minneapolis to the Mideast, Trump keeps discovering that he can't bully and bullshit his way through. Failure to grasp real-world complexities keeps blowing up in his face.

More like they've had stuff PUSHED ONTO THEM that led them that direction. We should ask how they got turned onto Fuentes' BS to begin with. Not surprisingly, these guys didn't get out of the house at age 18 to meet other people.

And we should tell him that BDS stuff is due to right-wing fundies.

It's worth noting that Trump was always promoted as a savvy businessman when he is, in fact, one of the dumbest businessmen ever and seems to know virtually nothing about economics.

$11.3 billion could cover any of the following for a full year:
-1.4 million people on Medicaid
-19 million kids getting free school lunches
-1.4 million people getting affordable housing
-1.1 million hungry seniors fed
-0.8 million children given free child care

The split within Trump's voting base over Iran is very real.

Media figures whose income depends on agreeing with dear leader are still onboard publicly, but at the grassroots level, the tentative Trump voter is not into foreign wars and deporting their honest neighbors.

Yeah, any war supplemental request should be an opportunity for not only calling out this stupid war, and for the extra spending in the OBBBA, which was stolen from food and medical aid.

Military got an extra $41 billion or so in OBBBA, right? Take it out of that.
