Verge headline: It doesn't matter if Alex Pretty had a gun by Sarah Jeong Photo by Steven Garcia depicts several masked law enforcement agents soaked in red light at night
"Why is it so normal for law enforcement β those who are supposed to be keepers of law and order β to kill Americans? And why is the only question at the end of the day how much their victims deserved to die?"

Maya Al Zaben on literature as resistance, On the Zero Line, and the urgency of preserving Gazaβs culture.
This was just me making this comparison yesterday, but today the Korean news is calling Minnesota "America's Gwangju" and have human rights lawyers explaining how America is now living through the dictatorship Korea once had.
Good afternoon from downtown Chicago, where despite heavy snowfall, thousands have gathered for an anti-ICE/CBP demonstration in solidarity with the Twin Cities. More are still streaming in.
Lt. Illinois Gov. Juliana Stratton just addressed the crowd, and called for ICE to be abolished.
A reminder to the news media: βconflicting accountsβ is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

The social media feeds of the Department of Labor have gone full-tilt white nationalist. As @kimkelly.bsky.social writes, this betrays the agencyβs history, and its former secretary Frances Perkins.
Minnesota's Secretary of State has denied bribe for hire Pam Bondi's extortion request for the stateβs voter rolls.
So proud of Minnesota. Never bow to fascists.

I know it's hard to track all the threats to democracy out there right now, but this is at the top of the list.

In our latest dispatch, Alaa Alqaisi writes from Gaza, from a moment when leaving wasnβt a choice but a matter of surviving genocide.

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.
She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:
In the Oak Park neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan, on November 17, 2025, an ICE goon tased a non-resisting woman and then threw her non-responsive body into his truck like a rag doll.

Every time someone calls the Epstein case a hoax or tries to downplay it, remember that the women you see today were CHILDREN AND TEENS. and theyβve been trying to hold people accountable SINCE THE MID NINETIES. Look at your own kids and think about that.
We couldβve had Kamala Harris a compassionate president working on worthwhile issues but folks voted for the evil orange guy who is more focused on covering up his friendship with Epstein right now. π
Giving a predator like Ghislain Maxwell a platform, moving her to a comfortable prison without receiving anything in return except to claim innocence and say youβre nice guyβ when 100βs of children where victimized is a miscarriage of justice.
