I'm currently in this phase of having to slowly and delete everything lol
I did try checking for both of these things, and all numbers seem to be correct. Everything is exactly the same as it is when the aircraft does decide to launch correctly. The only thing I could guess is I messed up and something unrelated to the player is altering the player's velocity. But no luck
I've done debugging looking at the carrier launch and how it applies speed and exposing all the values of my aircraft physics to see if there's one thing wrong, but It's all seemingly working correctly and it happening only once throws me off.
One thing for sure, this is kinda funny asf ngl lol
So lost on how to fix this bug.
On the first time I play the game when I launch from a carrier the flight model behaves weird and I get launched upwards. The kicker is, this only happens once per session. If I reload the scene or change scenes without stopping the game it works as intended.

I haven't posted in a month because I caught pneumonia and bronchitis all while I was unknowingly sleeping under a massive colony of black mold that was being ass-blasted to my face so I got lethally ill but now I survived so here is some random test footage of a replay system I've been working on.

the playable F-5 will be a longer winged navalized variant... But that's a long time before I get into actually making it.
