I would say give Ann Patchett one more try with Tom Lake, which I found to be a beautiful book, and was subsequently a bit disappointed by Commonwealth.

The Best of Everything is great! Paulette is a character that has a special place in my heart.

Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.

Very much seconded. Did shed a little tear when he won. Terrific performance, in such a lovely, warm, important film.

Danai Gurira Pens a Love Letter to β€˜Sinners’: β€œStop Trying to Categorize It” The first movie I ever saw in a theater was E.T. I was about five years old. I can’t recall every detail of that day β€” the popcorn, which parent I was with, or if I was wearing my favorite blue sneakers β€” but I remember the feeling. I remember how deeply it moved me, how much love and fear and pain and joy I felt for this strange little alien. My relationship with cinema was born in that moment: a sense of connection that lingers long after the credits roll.

Thank you @princecharlescinema.com for including Some Like It Hot in your Classic Film season. I know it off by heart, but have never seen it on the big screen, and to share the laughter with an audience was just magic.

Excellent! I find embroidery very calming. Unlike knitting etc. Very little skill required, don’t have to follow a pattern.

I had to shut my eyes in those bits. I do find that sort of thing inexplicable - why would anyone want to watch this - which also completely takes me out of a film.
But I also thought all the parts with Ralph Fiennes were excellent.

It’s lovely.
I read it a while ago and, as you say, don’t remember all the details, but immediately remember the warmth and comfort.
