A work in progress painting of a sunflower. The edges on the top and left are closer to completion. The painting has vibrant yellows, greens, and blues. The top left and bottom right have some pixelated squares. The middle is unfinished with the purple primer and pencil grid showing.
9.5 hours. I’m still trying to tweak the blue until I like it. But I’m thinking I should finish the rest and just go back to it at near the end.

Work in progress painting of a sunflower. The top and left side are being completed first.
6 hours in.
Layering white in the yellow highlight area is helping quite a bit. The petals have a lot of wrinkly details add so they still need a lot of work, but I’m happy with the vibrancy so far.

These two lovelies got accepted to the annual national juried show that is hosted by the Academy Center of the Arts in Lynchburg, VA. 🥳

I’m glad you appreciate it! ☺️✨I was a little embarrassed to add it because I didn’t feel like it looked like 3 hours of work. But mixing colors and adding layer takes time. I’ve only recently began logging my hours but it’s been so helpful for planning and setting realistic expectations.

The finished painting
As I continued, the pixels were born and I found so much joy painting these little squares. This piece will always be super special to me. I fell back in love with painting and found a way to express the complexity of grief tugging at me.
The title “Conservation” came from 1) it’s an image of

A small painting on an easel with a yellow wash with some brown blocks and lines to lay out the composition
The same painting as the previous but filled in with lots of color and details at the center. It’s of a small swampy area with some palm trees and plants.
The same painting as previous. The bright areas have dulled and blurred and there are grid lines on the left and right
Same painting pictured with solid block of color in the grid squares. The colors are more vibrant but are more realistic in hue, sticking to browns and greens.
Once upon a time, I wanted to paint a tiny landscape. I really liked it in image 2, it was so colorful and lively. But it felt like I was trying to copy everyone else. My voice was missing… so I ruined it in an attempt to experiment. I wanted it to mean more than “it’s pretty”

A work in progress painting of a sunflower. The top part has some blue and the edges of the yellow petals are defined in the top half. Most of the painting is still blank with the purple primer and pencil grid showing

A set of 6 of my artworks as prints laying on a table
A painting of a pixilated and colorful sunrise
A painting of a safflower that is in focus in front of a set of blurry columns and pixels
I don’t normally put too much thought into personality tests and such… but it’s been my interest of research over the past week.
Do people see personalities of the artists through their work?
Do you think those tests are reliable or helpful in any way?

Took the 16 personalities test thing again recently for my new employer (teaching art summer classes for kiddos)
I’m an INFJ… I took one as a teen and had the same result. So idk maybe it’s a little accurate.
I’m curious if you know your type, if you make art, and what kind of art you make

The very start of a new painting. It will eventually be of a sunflower. The top is being filled in with blue. The center of the flower is drawn out in pencil. There are a few edges of petals shaped with a layer of yellow paint.
I started! 🌻
It’s gonna look ugly and stupid for a little while. 😅
But I’m obsessed with the reference photo I took at a sunflower festival last year.

Will start new painting(s) tonight. I’ve taken a 2 week break for a number of interviews, meetings, my exhibition reception, and updating my website. …and a few days of rest.
I’m ready to get back to my paints. ✨🎨

A family member shared an A/I generated song that they claimed to have made.
The painfully ironic part was that they sent it thinking it would cheer up my family from being unemployed/ financially unstable.
I absolutely ripped into them about them about it.
How incredibly tone deaf and insulting 🙄

Feeling very depressed. But I know a bunch of people are feeling the same way. I’m not trying to compete.
My brain keeps spinning abut how to get out of it. I want to stop sinking. I want to be helpful somehow…

Spider lily painting in a white mat on a wooden table. The colors are mostly red and green. The flower is in focus while the rest is pixelated.
Waterlilies in a white mat on a wooden table. The top has small pixelations fading into realism at the bottom. 3 pink waterlilies lay on top of a pond full of lily pads.
Natural Bridge painting in a white mat on a wooden table. The Natural Bridge is in focus and the left is pixelated in cool and dark greens while the right is pixelated with light and warmer greens.
Happy Saturday! I just dropped new prints!!
Please check them out and buy a bunch of them. This is our main source of income as we are still interviewing for work. Y’all are literally feeding my kids right now, so I can’t thank you enough!! 💕

Three fine art prints of the paintings I’ve completed so far in 2026.
The each have a white border and lay on a brown wooden table. The top is Spider Lily, middle is Waterlilies, and bottom is Natural Bridge.
New prints!! They came out so much nicer this time!!
I’m taking these to my Artist Talk on Friday. Then I’ll be dropping them on the website this weekend (unless I magically sell out… if that happens you may have to wait another week as I restock)

The snow we had in December was really pretty. The snow that turned into ice and lasted for weeks was miserable. I am not excited to see the snow icon back on the weekly forecast… I just want the sun back.

I really like the design! I have bad luck with my craft bags falling over and spilling everywhere, so the tie at the top looks so helpful.
