here's the main page: origametry.net/origamimath....
the sub page link is "pentagon hexagon zig zag unit". lots of other sites and videos demo the technique (and imo the wrong way to fold), but this one by the author shows the underlying math.

i knew it would turn out well
if you're interested, i can link you to the resources i used. i think i'm going to try and make a flat mesh for either a sculpture or an architectural feature.
only two?
@barkitect.bsky.social you might find this interesting because the underlying math is used in a lot of architectural applications. i think that if i make only hexagon forms, the mesh will lie flat.
maybe even use some kind of light diffuser. in a previous model, i made one out of paper mache: wheat paste and coffee filters.
hint for assembly: build it piece by piece instead of assembling the sides in advance; practice by assembling a simpler small, symmetrical icosahedron; if glue is necessary, use something with not much water to minimize warping such as Yes Paste; use long-lasting, cooled led bulbs;
a white lamp shade made of modular origami pieces in the shape of a soccer ball.
finally finished with this modular origami light for the bedroom in our new place. if anyone is interested in making one themselves, it's based on Tom Hull's PHiZZ unit.
what about if you paint it on thin plywood panels that are flush-mounted? :3
yeah it's really nice that computer operating systems are increasingly interchangeable. hoping that game developers start to use more platform-agnostic libraries going forward.
i was just thinking, perl has lists, instead.
might also look nice if you painted it onto a wall, and then made the windows and dial sculptural elements.

really super depressing, but a good collection of a lot of things from early psych that i had forgotten
i suspect they don't even think that far ahead. i think they just appeared weak and no longer useful.
it definitely was a perfect storm.
turned out nicely!
i don't think stricter buyer income requirements would have prevented the subprime lending. to use an analogy, the problem was less whether or not the gamblers could afford their next bet, and more the behaviors and incentives of the gambling houses.
to me, that mortgage crisis has less to do with anything resembling government means testing and more property as a loosely-regulated commodity market, with the usual speculation and boom/bust cycles.
not trying to be rude here, but private lending income threshold rules are not even in the same category as government restrictions on public welfare services, even if the outcome is similar in some instances; not all rules are the same.
i'd like to see a bank, first.
no, systemic regulation is not really comparable with individual regulation.
