Fedora, a metropolis of grey stone erected around a metal building which contains, in each of its rooms, a blue orb. In each orb, you can see a copy of the city that could have been but never was. Every copy is different, looking to become the ideal Fedora, but while each orb was constructed, the city outside had already changed in a different direction.

Zenobia, a city built on high stilts, with houses made of bamboo and tin, crowned by pavillions with conic roofs and wind vanes. You can see fishing poles, cranes and pulleys, ladders and hanging sidewalks, yet no one remembers what prompted the founders to give the city this shape. And still, if you'd ask the townspeople what their ideal city would be, it is always Zenobia.

These are two personal renditions of two very different cities from Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, Fedora and Zenobia.
