My Dad grew these in his greenhouse in S Jersey for years to use in flower arrangements. It was magical to see them inside with snow outside. OPEC oil embargo made growing anything inside in winter unprofitable. I miss the indoor smell of those greenhouses. Good times.

A simple web search would tell you the refineries are on the coasts to refine imported oil into gasoline. 40% comes from outside the country. That's not nothing. The reason we don't refine it here is because we can't and there are bigger profits overseas.

Our collective shortsightedness is killing our country. Not once in 30 years have I voted for instant gratification. Others with a brain and education have tried, but there are not enough of us.

We can't refine most of the oil produced here. That's the problem with "drill baby drill". We still must import oil to make gasoline. It's not simple or straightforward and it is designed to insure max profit for the oil industry. To bring new refineries online takes $$$$ and years.
