This is a continuation of what Coby Mayo did in September. And he has a great chance to be at third base on opening day because of it

On Chris Davis, Orioles Hall of Famer, and how the whole may now weigh more than the ending: www.thebanner.com/sports/oriol...
Sources tell me and @andrewgolden.bsky.social (thatβs a fun one!) that Zack Littellβs deal with the Nationals guarantees $7 million in 2026 with incentives pushing that possibly to $9.5 million. The 2027 mutual option is worth $12 million, including a $4 million buyout

Chris Davis: 253 home runs and 656 RBIs in 10 seasons for the Orioles. Now part of the clubβs hall of fame.
A challenging end to his playing career but the heights were soaring.
He didnβt bunt that one
Enrique Bradfield turns a poor bunt into a hit. Vroom
Cameron Foster, a 26-year-old righty acquired from the Mets as part of the trade that sent Gregory Soto to New York, also had a strong spring. Foster pitched five scoreless innings too
Anthony Nunez, especially, looked great this spring. The pitcher converted from the infield a few years ago and is still just 24. He struck out six batters in five scoreless innings
The Orioles option bullpen candidates Cameron Foster and Anthony Nunez to minor league camp, they say.
They've also reassigned catcher Silas Ardoin, outfielder Jud Fabion and right-handers Jean Carlos Henriquez, and Cameron Weston to the minors
βI was fired up watching it. It was so cool β so cool for Gunnar and also the rest of the fans to see what Gunnar can do on the big stage and be the impact player we all know he is.β
Weβve seen Playoff Gunnar before. The Orioles need to make sure we see him again: www.thebanner.com/sports/oriol...
This is a one-year agreement that includes a mutual option, source said
Right-hander Zack Littell and the Nationals are in agreement on a deal that is pending a physical, source confirmed (@kileymcd and @JeffPassan first).
Littell posted a 3.81 ERA in 186 2/3 innings for the Rays and Reds last year
From Jon Meoli: Remember what the Oriolesβ stars told Craig Albernaz in the fall? Their explanations speak volumes. www.thebanner.com/sports/oriol...
But he said you were not hacked
Brandon Young has rewatched his almost-perfect game a few times.
βBut then I turn it off right before RamΓ³n UrΓas comes up, so I donβt have to relive that,β Young said.
Still, that magic in Houston proved to Young something valuable: He belongs.

Oh no! Anywayβ¦
It was a weird sight to see Brandon Hyde in Tampa Bay blue. Weirder still for the ex-Os skipper to see his club playing without him.
Looking back on his last season, Hyde said, " I wish I would have done more to help in certain ways" but he still keeps his pride: www.thebanner.com/sports/oriol...

To rekindle his 2023 success, Orioles reliever Yennier Cano returned to old training methods

Iβm heading home to Maryland for a week. Hit up Kyle if you need anything from Sarasota!
Reliever Andrew Kitteridge talked today about the shoulder injury that is expected to cause him to miss the start of the season: He said it has been βbarkingβ but every conversation heβs had with trainers and doctors is that it is not too serious. He hopes to resume throwing soon.
This spring, Vance Honeycutt is 4 for 4.
Four at-bats. Four home runs.
The 22-year-oldβs stunning streak in Sarasota is turning heads. Honeycutt hopes itβs a sign that his slow-starting career might finally take off: www.thebanner.com/sports/oriol...
A key win for West Ham in the bid for a great escape
One big Vance Honeycutt issue last year was how frequently he struck out (178 times in 101 games at High-A). that is not sustainable. But if his swing changes and improved path to the ball, more efficient load, pitch recognition is for real, we'll see it quickly in the minors.
And then watch out
Not to douse water on a fire but doing this in late-game spring training action is different than a full season. Vance Honeycutt must prove himself at Double-A first (if not High-A).
Of course, balls flying that hard and far aren't a mistake. It's good. He's showing pitch recognition improvements.
Crysencio Summerville may have just scored one of the most important West Ham goals in some time. Can we keep the lead?
Vance Honeycutt: βIs that how far it went? Yeah, I got it good. That one felt good.β
Tough, man. Tricked me
Still: ball go far!
