Frances Perkins, workers-rights advocate who served as the 4th United States Sec'y of Labor from 1933 to 1945, has strong Maine connections.

Her family's homestead in Newcastle, which she considered her true home, was recently designated as the Frances Perkins National Monument.

@pinetreeactivism.org does a remarkable job here in Maine.

The protests before the start of the Iraq War were some of the largest in history.

But the movement lost momentum and failed because leaders did not tell people what the next steps were—how to escalate and go on the offensive using nonviolent noncooperation.

Protests are not enough.

People are waking up all over the world.

Dictators, oligarchs are weakening no matter how they blunder and kill.

We are winning. We must win. And we are using nonviolence.
