I believe you reflected to her an understanding of the moment that would bring comfort by letting her know that you're with her.

I had a little chihuahua who would try to take control of my face with her two paws to lick the minty taste of toothpaste from my whiskers after I'd come to bed, making me laugh and say, "Chanelle!"
I'd feel her next to me all the time after she passed.
That struck me loudly in the unspoken-ness of it.
There is a zen tradition of a last poem, and hers is every bit in step with that tradition.
It's difficult to put to words how much I admire and respect and feel for that.
