An illustration by Mermako.Art of a poster for K8 Was Here, emulating the poster for Back to the Future 2, featuring teenage K8 Richie and 2015 Doc Brown looking at their watches, exiting a hovering DeLorean Time Vehicle.
π»π°οΈβ€οΈβπ₯ Fan art for K8 Was Here - one of the most life-changing projects I've been a part of. Illustration by Mermako commissioned by @creatingkennedy.bsky.social. K8 is an RPG audio drama and Surprise RPG duet between myself and @dougbanks.bsky.social set in the Back to the Future timeline. π§΅1/5
This would be a great time to bring back the Automat.
You're not allowed to announce a culinary field experiment like that without publishing your findings. Shame on you. π₯½π
Thank you! Brett was a fun challenge for me in lots of small nuanced ways. Glad to hear you're enjoying it. π₯
I'm making a note here: "Huge success."
It's difficult to pick ones that feel accurate, moreso than ones I just like. I didn't think Spock, Yoda, and E.T. really represent me. But I've felt like each of my three chosen aliens on more than one occasion.

CITY OF DAEMONS IS HERE! A new cinematic Surprise RPG podcast released in its entirety. A story of radical change, friendship, and existential questions starring myself and @dougbanks.bsky.social in a reality-upending game run by @jessicamudd.bsky.social.
not Lynch's movie, I know, but god, what a sendoff
Well, there *is* the mockup I made for K8's hoverboard. πΉπ
It took a long time to develop the initial hook before Cat was even aware of the experiment. If I ever stumble upon a special idea for another adventure, I'd imagine it would also take a while to work out. So yeah, no plans for more.
...yet.
Wow! Thank you for joining us on such a wild (and lengthy) experiment. π§‘
As for future stories with K8, we're hesitant to risk an unnecessary follow-up. But, y'know, never say never. π
In the meantime, there's GBR, The Extermination, City of Daemons, and others on the way!
Sounds to me like you're describing a prison. π€·ββοΈ
Definitely not alone. I also find them uncomfortable to be in. Especially the "big box" marts. Those can feel beyond Orwellian to me.
GIF where you're from.
"You gotta try this pole!"
Man, I *wish* I would be Xanatos. I'm just being honest with myself. π
If you were a villain, who would you be?
And that's to say nothing of the fact that systems in and of themselves are just tools to tell stories. It's like asking a cinematographer to list their top ten film stocks. All can be valid as long as they fit the story being told.
Shot from "Jurassic Park (1993)" of Doctor Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) subtitled with her dialog: "The only thing that matters now are the people we love."
Some people find comfort in reading scripture. For me, there's Jurassic Park.
Back in 2020, I played a Back to the Future TTRPG and it was a profound, life changing experience that altered how I interfaced with time, RPGs, womanhood, and my already significant love of the Back to the Future Trilogy. I've shared my story here: www.reddit.com/r/BacktotheF...
I dunno. Looks pretty "mixed" to me.
Keeper: Friends! I have a great new idea for a CoC one-shot!
Player: You realize C.o.C. is an abbreviation, not an acronym, right?
Keeper: (evil laugh)
Come hang out with Luke, @dougbanks.bsky.social, Jarrod Pope, and I as we dig into the Frankenstein of ideas that is Bride of Re-Animator.
Dang. Been wanting to play Traveller for AGES.
My current Top 4 RPGs:
1: Blade Runner
2: Ghostbusters
3: Genesys
4: Star Trek Adventures
Sounds similar to the "Finian's Rainbow" approach of curing someone of their "ism" through a magical transformation into a body that they were previously prejudiced against.

Four more. And it's just the 90s! Could easily do this with every decade.
