ooh that's *almost* driving distance! (or could get close through a long day on trains :-)

thanks for this, I've been working through it and really enjoying the level of detail!
(one minor nit/feedback βΒ I keep clicking the forward arrow at the "step" intro level and it takes me to the *next* step instead of the first page of the step I'm on, 2.7 β 2.8 β 3 β 4 instead of β 2.8 β 3 β 3.1)
All Five Steps are done: microgpt.jtauber.com
(although I have a few more things I plan to add).
Feedback very welcome, especially if there are some areas that are still too dense and could do with some expansion.
yeah and I think it's interesting to consider the human on the OTHER side too βΒ it's fascinating what ML models can remix from our words, and it's also fascinating how our brains respond to words coming back at us, if that makes any sense? (basically what we do with words outwards *and* inwards!)
in so many contexts!
Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf mustβve thought before he died by suicide: βHe might have thought βhow is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over thisβ maybe he said βthis site was not subject to local zoning.ββ
not necessarily looking for anything full time, but been spending some time browsing job listings as the year kicks off.
interesting to see what sorts of companies are hiring and what sort of tech/personality is in demand these days!
looks like the last time I got my rΓ©sumΓ© up-to-date was five years ago this month π
glad that hasn't been a big need in my career but really should collect some of those notes. a lot happened even though many of the projects superficially stayed the same over that half a decade!
** It's happening!! **
We managed to convince Google to open source PebbleOS. Took a while, but they just did it today! github.com/google/pebble
With that, we're bringing Pebble back! I blogged about it - ericmigi.com/blog/why-wer...
Thinking of all the people in all the times and all the places who just live their lives doing the right things that they could without thinking overly much about their circumstances.
Looking forward to this year and all the opportunities it might bring to share my skills with others. Working in tech there's always something(s) new to learn and something(s) old to maintain.
In some ways it also reminded me of something I'd read a while back about an engineering team that needed a solutionΒ and they realized their best bet was to speed up how quickly they could TEST a zillion options. So not working so much head-on but by making things easy to see, and cheap to be wrong.
Kite string tangled around its winder with a hand holding up some knots from pulling tight.
Spent some time untangling string today and was struck by how the twists (which don't really matter topologically) can really get in the way of finding the knots (which are your real problem).
