Steve Witkoff on Hannity's show makes a case that Trump last summer both obliterated but also didn't obliterate Iran's nuclear program
Blumenthal after getting briefed on Iran: "We seem to be on a path toward deploying American troops on the ground in Iran to accomplish any of the potential objectives here. There's also the specter of active Russian aid to Iran putting in danger American lives ... China also may be assisting Iran"
Yes , its not exactly the best worded consultation but at least the "other" category lets you add in your own views
Such a narrow focus too - basically questions on governance, news impartiality and the licence fee - and strangely AI (yet again the government wanting to syphon BBC funds for something else). Could at least have paid lip service to finding out views on sport, childrens content and radio content.
This is how all my nightmares begin now
No surprise it's the right wing rags who constantly call to "defund the BBC" are attacking them today for losing the rights to the Boat Race.
Pls say that an independent funding commission should set funding levels, as in Germany. The current system, in which government ministers determine the licence fee through opaque settlement negotiations, is a standing invitation to party political interference. 4/
Please dear followers do fill this in. Most important points IMO: BBC is ambitious+capable but can do nothing without proper funding; World Service to be funded by govt; BBC needs a permanent Charter; no more party political appointees to its board; political independence.
β° The Government consultation on the future of the BBC closes at midnight tonight, so do have your say.
It takes about 40 minutes to respond, but you don't need to answer every question, you can skip the open ended questions if you want.

Just finished my response to UK gov consultation on the BBC charter. Really important to ensure independent and high quality BBC available to all. Not perfect, but amongst the best in the world, despite so much external pressure.

Right, I've replied to the BBC Charter Review consultation. It took me about 40 minutes but that's because I gave a good 195 words in every 200-word box. I'm sure they will read my replies intently and weigh them in their hearts.
Anyway, you can go faster: dcms.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

What if the BBC was owned by the people who fund it?
Weβre proposing a member-owned BBC where licence fee payers become members with a real voice in how it's run.
Independent. Accountable. Owned by the public.
Support the idea before the consultation closes today π

General taxation has been favoured by Nordic countries and is more proportionate to income than a levy. Finland provides the most robust approach, collecting tax revenue into an extra-budgetary fund, out of government reach, to ensure taxes are used for statutory purposes
