People deserve rights, dignity, & protection from discrimination.

Ideas, incl. religious doctrines, do NOT deserve protection from criticism, ridicule, or rejection.

If your (false) comfort negatively affects humanity in general, I begrudge you that comfort.

And that comfort is mere indoctrinated, false comfort, that the non-indoctrinated manage very well, if not better, without.

The question of how much religious belief deserves respect seems somewhat analogous to the question of how much respect should someone pay to my belief that my children are brilliant. Worship them as you please, but they can't be judges, rocket scientists or concertmasters without objective proof.
