Really chuffed to have had a poem published @wildfirewords.bsky.social. โLibera me: a new voice speaksโ is about my recent preparation for a short solo in Faureโs Requiem by my local choir. It was a terrifying but ultimately rewarding experience! wildfire-words.com/spring-fall/...

Nearly 28 years after my father gave me Andrew Motionโs biography of John Keats for my birthday, Iโve read the thing! ๐To celebrate, I visited Keats House in Hampstead, north London. This great quote from the poet is on the stairs down to the cellar kitchen!

โScotland has always been multilingualโ: new Scottish makar Peter Mackay
As new national poet, the Gaelic speaker is looking at all of the languages spoken in the country, to see โwhat we can learn between themโ
Peter Mackayโs poems usually begin in Gaelic โafter which he roughly translates them into English before the two diverge & grow apart โ a process he describes as โnecessarily dishonest translationโโ cos in nod to Emily Dickinson โโevery language tells its truthโ.

Hi Ben, thanks for sharing. I donโt think the subject of your poem is too challenging. The questions that occur to me are: could it be more poetic? Does the framing of the speaker actually work? And what is the connection between Thanksgiving and Palestine? That might be what editors are wondering.
