Edinburgh pubs #50 but only after a long walk comes The Thorntree Inn (Cockenzie) and the Railway Tavern (Prestonpans) #Edinburgh #Pubs #Cockenzie #Prestonpans

I find the best way is to put them on a 36 to The Gyle, where they then transfer to the tram for Newhaven - at least that way they will have seen a significant part of Edinburgh, and been travelling for about three hours😀 and still not know where they are.

The Burns Identity Don Paterson on the sudden disappearance of Robert Burns

It’s Burns night tonight … better check the haggis traps. I’ve slapped up something at the northseapoets place on Burns’ psychology and how ‘Tam O’Shanter’ is key to understanding his abandonment of poetry northseapoets.substack.com/p/the-burns-...

The thread about the Great Edinburgh Beer Duty Fraud: Boiling the Wort and Cooking the Books It was 3AM on Christmas morning 1933 when - after a long and cold stakeout - not Santa but three agents of His Majesty's Customs & Excise entered the renowned Bell's Brewery on the Pleasance and caught the brewers in the act of working illicitly. They didn't yet know it but the trio had just uncovered the UK's largest ever duty fraud, one with a record that would not be broken for decades to come. So ended the Great Edinburgh Beer Duty Fraud. And so also begins its story, the story of a company set up by Victorian venture capitalists in "An Alcoholic Haze of Ambition" and which had to struggle through 40 years of economic hardship only to decide that criminality was a course of action preferable to watering down their famously strong beer.

Future of union set hits point of no return Last month, the drinks business reported on efforts to find a new home for the historic six-barrel union set gifted by the Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (now Carlsberg Britvic) to Epochal Barrel...

The Glasgow union is in the last chance saloon. This is not a drill. Please share far and wide.

Just had had Hue & Cry mistakenly wander into the brewery trying to buy a forklift truck. Think they were looking for Linde.

Well as my old Irish Grandmother would have said that for either complaint, that the best cure would be a wee whiskey (Irish spelling 😉), so at this stage you should be on doubles 🥃🥃

The sixth picture in your phone gallery is what killed you.

So from which end of the gallery. Either way it's my liver which may be the problem 😉🍺
