Finished Resident Evil Requiem. Sublime. The kind of game that keeps me playing games.

The Testament of Ann Lee is easily one of my favourite films of recent years and I cannot recommend it highly enough. An emphatic and sincere triumph of filmmaking.
Amanda Seyfried's rapturous performance demands to be seen on the big screen. Go see it while you can!
The atmosphere of Resident Evil Requiem from the first minute is outrageous. I'm having to walk away from the game every 30 mins because those Grace sections are suffocating.
Looks unbelievable on the PS5 Pro btw. A real showcase game for the current gen, and proof next gen should be years away.
This afternoon I watched feel good movie of the year We Need To Talk About Kevin. That's a tough watch, but damn Tilda Swinton is a force.
The cover of Aliens: The Video Games, a book I've written. The cover, with art by Samantha Mackenzie Greer, shows someone playing a video game with an ominous alien-like shadow behind them. The book is unofficial - it's not licensed from/endorsed by Fox or Disney. But it does have over 20 new interviews in it, all exclusive to the book, covering games from 1984 to 2024. It packs in plenty of archive material, concept art and screens, product photography, and a few words on just a few of the 1000s of games to be inspired by Aliens. It's out at the end of August and pre-orders are live now at Amazon and Waterstones, with more retailers adding their listings in March. Give it a look, if it sounds like your thing. It effectively plots a course through the last five decades of Video Game Design, as seen through an Alien lens. From basic stealth games and mazes to intense VR experiences, via multiple console ports, ambitious failures, light-gun fun and at least one game that can be completed in less than three minutes. Lots more on it, soon... (also, I am very available for chats about it, and interested journos can DM me for an advance PDF).
Basically, I wanted to dig into the different games of Alien 3.
Which turned into: why not do all the Alien games, as a book?
And why not cover every AvP game? And several unlicensed, cancelled and fan games?
And that book is out at the end of August. It's come out alright, I reckon.

Just watched Fargo for the first time. It's crazy how much Peter Stormare looks like Ryan Gosling
100%. I personally enjoyed the gameplay/combat but yeah the story and writing was what kept me coming back.
So I hear! I don't have the energy for that but immediately watched all the other endings/changes. Cracking video game
I rolled credits on Silent Hill f last night and I had a phenomenal time with it. Game writing has disappointed me for a long time with few exceptions, but this was great. I hope this team get to tell more SH stories because this is absolutely one of the best games of 2025. Underappreciated imo.

Please share!
Hi.
I made a short documentary on community, connection and the importance of those things now more than ever through a group that has fostered on fostering those things in the last two years in Derry.
I'm so, so proud to present the trailer for it. Please enjoy.
It's called Building A Village.
the cover of Aliens: The Video Games - a book all about the many and varied video games of the Alien/s series
It's a while til it's released - officially at the end of August - but if any book-reviewing types out there are interested in receiving an advance (digital) copy of Aliens: The Video Games for coverage purposes, please let me know. Cos that can be arranged. I'm very up for chats, too.
Alien: Isolation just never gets old.
That said, I would happily throw my money at a current gen remaster before the sequel launches.

Nothing in the past few years has brought me joy quite like having a cinema membership at a tiny cinema just down the road from me :)
The best film of 2025 has arrived!
