The Memory of the Ogisi: A fitting, surprising, and thought-provoking close | Fantasy Literature: Fantasy and Science Fiction Book and Audiobook Reviews
review: Set against violence & subjugation are shining moments of kindness & gentleness ... whether they negate darker acts or willing complicity is a whole other question. One the characters wrestle with, as will the reader

The world is on fire along multiple vectors, yes, and I am keeping my eye on that, as well as working hard (writing) and living my ordinary life, and meanwhile, my latest novel released this week, which I'm incredibly excited about.
It's like a constant state of whiplash.

Today is release day for this lil book o' mine. Children of Useyi is the conclusion to my YA epic fantasy duology, and it's a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to these characters. But I'm grateful I got to share their story with the world and enjoy the support of so many readers.

Picture of a dark skinned man wearing a black vest with a brown bandana around his neck. He has black hair and spines/quills growing from his arms and back.
Official Paizo artwork of a Shisk. Bald, dark-skinned woman with spines/quills growing from arms and head.
Some random musing on my reading influencing the characters I make for #pathfinder2e
I read a book called The Lies of the Ajungo by @mosesoseutomi.bsky.social and thus was born Heron Ajungo.
Heron is a Shisk spellshot gunslinger I played in a Dark Archives game.

I had the exact same feeling. I thought it was a Naruto rip off, so I wasn't that into it at first, but it won me over.

Continue to support BIPOC authors in SFF. One bad actor is not representative of the whole. We still need the support, even in the exact ways that have been hijacked for personal enrichment. So go follow, read & support writers of African descent & from the Global South; not just one, but many.

Almost every time I describe the premise of my books, the person responds "where did you even get that idea?" and I can't tell if they think I'm original or disturbed.
