As I indicated over a month ago ago, we now have proof positive that Trump tore down the East Wing of the White House before even having a conceptual plan of the replacement. The design keeps changing, the program keeps getting bigger, and it keeps becoming even more hideous. #followthegrift
The ruling overturning the Texas gerrymandering is especially noteworthy because the federal judge, Jeffrey V. Brown, is a Trump appointee who once served as a law clerk to Texas Supreme Court Justices Jack Hightower and Greg Abbott (the current governor of Texas).
But it's not a "puzzle"; it's all about the grift.
The crude sketches presented to the public to date are the products of simple computer rendering programs. They are known in the trade as "eyewash" drawings. Trump has ordered demolition of the East Wing of the White House WITHOUT having any detailed plans for what will be constructed in its place.
Third, the "plans" don't indicate any new service facilities to accommodate 1,000 guest, nor do the "plans" match renderings' volume or window placement. The errors are so egregious that we can only conclude that there are NO detailed plans yet.
Second, the building is more than 2X the size required for its stated purpose. A 1,000 person ballroom would, very generously, require about a 4O K SF bldg: 20 K for the actual ballroom, 10,000 K for the foyer, and another 10,000 K for food prep / service facilities.
I'm a registered architect and designed public buildings for over 40 years. Here are a few thoughts about Trump's ballroom.
First (always first with Trump) consider the blatant grifting: $350 M for a 90 K SF facility is more than three times the actual cost. Trump wants to pocket $250,000,000.
