Overlooked and extensive ghost forest formation across the US Atlantic coast - Nature Sustainability Large swathes of standing dead trees or β€˜ghost forests’ can form owing to rising sea levels in coastal areas, but the extent to which this occurs is unclear. I've got some GOOD NEWS for once! Surge of donations to the PRI museum in New York is going to let it stay open for at least a few more months. Keep going! ithacavoice.org/2025/04/dona...

I'm devastated and heartbroken. Staff at the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) got the ax. Most likely means the Sixth National Climate Assessment (NCA6) is also cooked. USGCRP was the glue across the Federal family on all things climate - reducing duplication and making efficiencies.

Some folks have asked, given recent news, β€œhow do I show my friends/family the impact of NSF?” We have some easy Fact Sheets for you! Here’s a brief thread about this website: new.nsf.gov/about/fact-s... which hosts a ton of useful one-pagers.

Ok, I made a new starter pack: Science Job Accounts! I want to try & collect together account that are likely to post jobs/internships/employment opportunities in science. It is heavily US/Ecology based (and would probably be better as a feed). Please suggest other accounts!! go.bsky.app/QPGnfWu

Spatial resolution for forest carbon maps

At what spatial resolution should we map forest carbon from space?

[1/2] In our letter @science.org led by Laura Duncanson we reflect on whether a pursuit of ever-higher resolution maps is necessarily a good thing.

I know we have a million starter packs right now, but I think we need one for forest management & policy!

I know I missed a ton of people, so if you'd like to be added, please message me (particularly you tropical foresters). Or, if you don't want to be on this list, lmk!

As Prof. Priyanga Amarasekare's heartbreaking saga at UCLA drags into another year, I've compiled a thread of articles written about the situation. My sardonic take: Some people didn't like to be accused of racism and decided to destroy her career over their hurt feelings. 1/21
