Though in my experience some routines become so regular and repeated over time that they likely cross over into habit. For ex, taking my medicine & vitamins together, first thing is. habit. The routine is starting the coffee next after I take my medicine and vitamins + the next few actions.
For me: Habits are automatic behaviors, triggered by a cue. They become habits through repetition to the point that little to no conscious thought is required. Routines are a deliberate set of acts, typically in a set order, performed regularly, that still require conscious thought.

Changing the city charter isn’t easy but perhaps it’s necessary, along with other reforms with how our school board is currently (not) working.
Simply pointing out that I have not seen many other school boards with 9 members - whether it’s LA or Arlington next door.
And maybe ACPS school board should take a larger role in communicating with stakeholders, because it’s lacking. We have 9 members for a 150k city & it’s not working.
Our question is what is 9 members getting us in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability that 5 or 7 wouldn’t? If we keep districts, why not 1 rep per district and 2 at large?
This is unrelated to the topic of this story, but this article is how I learned LA school board has 7 members.

Cutting more comms won’t solve all the problems, but it’s a start.

Ah, masking. One has to wonder how many kids are masking to hold it together through the day. My guess is a lot.
My kids’ use of bikes and transit helps & I’m hoping to get my elderly parent on one as their ability to safely drive rapidly diminishes. The more I can get both sides of the sandwich a little more independently mobile, the more it brings much needed relief to this sandwich generation member!
