Paying taxes is a good thing! How else is society supposed to function?!?
Our database paints a detailed financial picture for President Donald Trump and hundreds of his political appointees, some of whom have ties to the industries they regulate.
The disclosures include their recent employers, assets and debts.
As an economic justice girlie who began my career on the south side of Chicago, I am so incredibly grateful Rev. Jackson's activism and commitment to building a better America www.youtube.com/live/mqxgKJV...
Terminating union contracts while facing a talent shortage is certainly a choice... apnews.com/article/trea...
Researchers found that "surface acting", faking emotional (or non-emotional) responses at work is exhausting for workers. Of course, now I'm curious how much that exhaustion compounds when workers code switch because of cultural differences/expectations www.inc.com/bruce-crumle...
It's interesting (sad!) because the administration says it's bringing jobs to the US, but put Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), the very banks that are primed to support job creators like this one, in very shaky conditions. www.marketplace.org/story/2025/1...
According to my hometown newspaper, another steel mill is closing down - eliminating at least 250 jobs - and likely more when you include contractors and vendors -according to the CEO, this is at least partially an access to capital issue. www.bnd.com/news/local/a...
Back in 2024, the @wsj.com published a story on the challenges facing white workers as manufacturing plants closed in southern illinois. The upshot was that Black workers weren't as affected, mostly because they had been locked out of those well paying manufacturing jobs. www.wsj.com/economy/jobs...
She is saying it loud but this is what they mean when they say oh this is not the country I am used to
That Black unemployment rates are so high is frustrating. That so many Black women have been unemployed for so long is maddening. Watching these trends worsen in the data as well as in my friendship circles is devastating. I spoke with @19thnews.org about the impact. 19thnews.org/2026/01/blac...
Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics
Walmart said their βcheaperβ Thanksgiving basket proves prices are down. What they didnβt say is that it has fewer items & cheaper substitutes.
Thanksgiving dinner is up 10% this year and some staples are up nearly 60%!

The disparagement of Dr. Cook angered me more than many of the other awful things that have happened during this administration. I guess I expected a lot of the larger-scale policy changes, but to make up claims and denigrate this woman's name?! www.nbcnews.com/politics/tru...
Economic growth can elude America's rural communities, even as the national economy expands.

π¨ The unemployment rate for Black Americans jumped to 7.5%, the highest rate since Oct. 2021.
On @cnn.com, watch Joint Center Senior Fellow @jessicajfulton.bsky.social explain why so many Black workers are being affected and how this is concerning for all workers.

The GOP used its tax bill as an opportunity to make changes to the social safety net. Cutting access to food and healthcare supports will have devastating effects for Black households, especially at a moment when the labor market is weakening for Black workers. jointcenter.org/budget-recon...
Stop asking billionaires questions, recording their answers and sharing their uninformed and/or racist and/or otherwise bigoted and nonsense ideas as journalism. Itβs ridiculous. They are the most boring people. Oh wah I am a white man who has more money than I can spend and Iβm so mad about it!
Unemployment for Black women is rising. "Black workers, and particularly Black women, show up as a canary in the coal mine, giving a picture of what may happen to everyone else later..." - @jessicajfulton.bsky.social

Very frustrated that people keep talking positively about the tiny, temporary, and terribly designed benefits for some workers in this terrible bill. The tiny benefits SOME working class folks get disappear after Trump leaves office, while he & other wealthy folks will continue to get tax breaks.
On @electorette.bsky.social with @jtaylorskinner.bsky.social, expert @jessicajfulton.bsky.social examines how the GOP's tax bill would further concentrate wealth at the top while offering little to no meaningful help for working families, especially Black households: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrde...
One notable way Senate Republicans made the SNAP cuts even worse: the bill would now take food assistance away from 270,000 low-income people who are veterans, experiencing homelessness, or who recently aged out of foster care.
Republicans are now suddenly planning to TAX renewable energy, transforming the repeal of the IRA from a challenge to a full-blown crisis for American solar and wind.
I spent the last 24 hours putting this story together to explain why.
Please share! This is really important!!!

This entire legislative effort is wicked. Taking away healthcare and food from people who can't afford to pay for it, while making sure that the richest among us don't have to pitch in to support our society, is truly immoral and cold-hearted.
