Still can’t get over how much Rubio’s body language and demeanor have changed from a decade ago. If this were a movie about a politician who sold his soul for power, the actor playing Rubio would be panned for his ham-fistedness.

Wisdom from my 6 year old daughter: "some people think boys are better than girls or girls are better than boys but they're basically just the same"
*pause*
"Except boys are a little bit lazier when they're grown-ups..."
😂
They need to have a plan and the spine to back it up.
Chancellor & Dean David Faigman’s Law Day message draws on U.S. legal history to consider what leaders of the past would think about the state of the union today. “I write today in defense of core principles that should ground all policy debates regardless of one’s politics: respect for the law.”
It astounds me that he was able to convince so many people that everything was fake news and only he, a prolific liar, was the only one telling the truth. Granted Faux News helped, but there is a serious lack of critical thinking and a willful ignorance of at least 1/3 of Americans.
Thank you Greyhound!
Re: MTA v. Duffy, No. 25 Civ. 1413 (S.D.N.Y.) Dear Erin: We write with respect to the above-referenced litigation brought by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority ("MTA") against the U.S. Department of Transportation ("DOT"), U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, the Federal Highway Administration ("FHWA"), and Executive Director of the FHWA, Gloria Shepherd, to provide you with information concerning (1) the litigation risk that DOT faces in defending the Secretary's February 19, 2025 decision to terminate the New York City Central Business District Tolling Program ("CBDTP") agreement, and (2) a process for terminating the CBDTP agreement outside of the current litigation for DOT to consider. As discussed below, there is considerable litigation risk in defending the Secretary's February 19, 2025 decision against plaintiffs' claims under the Administrative Procedure Act, that the decision was contrary to law, pretextual rocedurally arbitrary and capricious, and violated due process. For the reasons outlined below, it is unlikely that Judge Liman or further courts of review will accept the argument that the CBDTP was not a statutorily authorized "value pricing" pilot under the Value Prising Pilot Program (" ar FHWA may, however, be able to properly terminate the CBDTP value pricing pilot pursuant to established Office of Management and Budget ("OMB") regulations concerning the termination of cooperative agreements. Termination of the CBDTP agreement pursuant to these OMB regulations would still allow FHWA to end the CBDTP for the Secretary's stated reasons, but would do so as a matter of changed agency priorities rather than arguing the CBDTP was not statutorily authorized in the first instance. Importantly, DOT can seek termination of the agreement pursuant to the OMB regulations in addition to, and not in place of, defending the rationale laid out in the Secretary's letter. So, uh, it certainly looks like DOJ intended to file a letter to Judge Liman in MTA v. Duffy, but….it accidentally filed a letter containing its legal advice to the Department of Transportation instead

An @immdef atty appeared in new AEA case today & DHS confirmed client is in El Salvador. Imm Judge interrupted argument to proceed on merits & said "Is your client here? I didn't waive his appearance & he has failed to appear. I am issuing en absentia removal order." Insane.
Insane, indeed.
Breaking News: Senator Chris Van Hollen met with Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man wrongly deported to El Salvador.
Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”
Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.
This is a very important point.
"Fiduciary duty" requires Board members and administration to act in the best interests of the university.
But this is NOT limited to finances!
Has Columbia's Board really kept its fiduciary duty when it has SO damaged the university's reputation (or "brand" 🤮)?
The following Democrats in the House of Representatives voted in favor of the SAVE Act:
* Rep. Ed Case of Hawaii
* Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas
* Rep. Jared Golden of Maine
* Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington.
A wide range of voters would be restricted by this law. If cannot pass.

It seems most, if not all, but like usual the notification comes from a sketchy email account instead of official channels so some directors might not even know yet.
If you’ve ever sat on an NEH review panel (as many of us have), you know how difficult it is to win a grant. It’s an incredibly exacting process, with way too many excellent projects competing for funding. Awardees are scrutinized from every direction, with more rigor than DOGE can even imagine.
This feels like the defining image from this year’s Midwest Political Science Association annual meeting.
The National Science Foundatipn paid for a booth in the exhibit hall. But the booth sits empty, because NSF has been DOGE’d, and there is no one left to send.
Trump just pardoned crypto firm BitMex for violating money laundering laws — making him potentially the first president in American history to pardon a corporation.
It's truly a new Golden Age for corporate crime.
There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers.
Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.
Welp, DOGE just cancelled our NEH grant for a summer institute discussing Buddhism and nature, which likely saved the government less money than the salary of a single DOGE crony.
Elon Musk’s best contribution to government efficiency?
Leaving.
Please just GTFO and find yourself a "high productivity job."
Thanks :)

Dear CDC friends. Today was the most foolish of April Fool's days. We have not just lost jobs. With entire teams and offices being cut, we have lost vast amounts of institutional knowledge. Take the time you need to grieve. Then join your fired colleagues in the fight.

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.
What will you do?
In Florida you have to be a registered voter to vote. If you voted in Florida in the November 2024 election and live in FL-1 or FL-6 then GOOD NEWS you can vote today. Please do vote. 🗳️
Oh my God, I just had a full night’s sleep and Cory Booker is still going…

I had to scroll down way too far to find someone who correctly described EOs.

The fact that the Department of Justice has not, and will never, launch an investigation into this massive national security breach tells you all you need to know about this lawless and profoundly corrupt Administration.
Yes! This is the energy we need!
