At #OsloFreedomForum this year.
It started with activism—and became something deeply personal.
In exile, I finally paused, healed, and found chosen family.
Resilience isn't just for movements. It's for us too.
Endless thanks to HRF, CANVAS & all who made the Freedom Fellowship possible.
An excellent panel at #OsloFreedomForum this afternoon, on transnational repression by Beijings puppet regime, Hong Kong as a sanctions evasion hub and more.

HRF freedom fellow @carmenlau.bsky.social gave a powerful talk at #OsloFreedomForum this afternoon.

Still unclear whether China & Hong Kong will be placed on FIRS's enhanced tier. One obvious reason is exactly as what @danjarvismp.bsky.social said yesterday—to create transparency around the influence of foreign powers in the UK.

Related: Security Minister reported the TNR review by Defending Democracy Taskforce yesterday (Finally!). We hope to see a more transparent, regular reporting of the work of this Taskforce.

Welcoming UK Home Office’s first step in recognising transnational repression as a distinct threat through new guidance for TNR targets. Glad to see potential risks of travelling abroad also noted.
Looking forward to further action ahead.

I hope the PM and Home Secretary could clarify:
1. Whether BN(O) visa scheme as a humanitarian route, the increase in the standard qualifying period will be applied.
2. Timeline of the implementation of the new rules.
As a BNO passport holder, it's unclear—despite theoretical assurances—if I’d receive British consular support if something happened. If our path to settlement is prolonged, the uncertainty of this humanitarian route puts the HK diaspora in an even more vulnerable position.
I travel frequently for advocacy, but I must constantly assess if destinations have extradition or close ties with China/HK, or if flights cross Chinese airspace. This new law only increases the risk. With people actively trying to bounty-hunt, I live under constant threat.
🧵As a targeted advocate with arrest warrants and a bounty, I feel exceptionally vulnerable today:
1. Hong Kong has introduced a NSL extradition provision through Art. 23 sub-legislation.
2. The qualifying period for BNO visa holders to apply for ILR may be extended to 10 years.
@carmenlau.bsky.social has a petition open for signatures asking the UK govt to "specify China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region under the Enhanced Tier of the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme."

Pls sign our petition calling on the UK government to specify China under the Enhanced Tier of the Foreign Influence Registration Scheme.
It would require registration of arrangements/activities carried out in the UK by China-controlled/directed entities.

Grateful to be welcomed by Sciences Po Reims to discuss global threats, authoritarianism & my journey as a woman activist in exile with future leaders of the world.
Huge thanks to Amnesty ScPo Reims, the Sundial Press & the Feminist Society for the meaningful exchanges! ✊🌍
We thank US Gov for finally taking this long-overdue step in response to the HK$1 million bounties and arrest warrants issued against me and 18 other pro-democracy Hong Kongers. Looking forward to seeing other allies’ actions.

Countries shall engage closer to tackle China’s & Hong Kong’s transnational repression. The UK Parliament is debating UK-China relations today at 4.30pm, looking forward to hearing from the Government on holding a stronger stance against TNR and human rights abuses.
Personally I should thank @thetimes.com for letting its British audience know about my plight. But why didn’t it and many of the major UK media cover identical things happening in the UK to @carmenlau.bsky.social and Tong Chung back in February? If there was more noise … (1/3)

2/ There are these thuggish behaviours related to the Chinese Embassy, affecting safety of people on Brit soil & seriously would the PM & Angela Rayner still decide to give it a go?
Law enforcement should immediately design substantial measures to safeguard HKer community.
Bounty-hunt me and get rewarded $1 million💰
1/ Last week, my MP Joshua Reynolds told me that my neighbours received anonymous letters encouraging them to “take me to the Chinese Embassy” to bounty-hunt me. The Parliament had an UQ on it yesterday secured by @aliciakearns.bsky.social

Thank @aliciakearns.bsky.social for securing this UQ on my bounty. After being wanted on 24 Dec, 3 members of my distant family was interrogated in HK, anonymous letters sent to my neighbours to encourage bounty-hunt, and I have been constantly receiving death & rape threats.

Turning 30 today!
Life hasn’t gotten easier, and the world has only grown more challenging. At times, we stumble, but we remain resilient in the face of what lies ahead.
Aging gracefully.
My Russian friend shared with me a quote of Navalny — Everything will be all right. And, even if it won't be, we’ll have the consolation of having lived honest lives.
As I was commemorating the first anniversary of Alexei Navalny’s assassination with my activist friends, I was announced another distant family member of mine was taken by the nat. security police for interrogation.
