Haha they would ask us to pay for the data
Haha they would ask us to pay for the data
Which violates data access agreement people agree upon when they download data from say UK data service (not sure what BES data is)
I would not as UK data service end user agreement does not allow you to share the data with others

If you’re interested in violence research, quantitative intersectionality, or improving policy targeting, we hope this study offers useful insights. 6/end
I was incredibly fortunate to work with an outstanding team:
Jane Healy, an intersectionality guru
Clare Evans (University of Oregon), the developer of MAIHDA
George Leckie (University of Bristol), co-developer of MAIHDA and multilevel modelling guru 5/n
This is a powerful reminder that intersectional approaches aren’t just theoretically valuable: they meaningfully improve how we understand and respond to violence victimisation. 4/n
What we found:
Victimisation risks differ sharply across intersectional groups, and the patterns are not the same for different types of violence victimisation. 3/n
Rather than looking at single categories (e.g., gender or ethnicity alone), MAIHDA allowed us to examine intersectional strata, combinations of gender, ethnicity, age, socioeconomic status, and disability. 2/n
📢 New publication – and a great way to end the year
In this study, we use MAIHDA (Multilevel Analysis of Individual Heterogeneity and Discriminatory Accuracy) to study who is most at risk of violence victimisation in England and Wales. Paper: doi.org/10.1177/1748... 1/n

We’re keen to hear from colleagues with expertise in cyber crime, policing, prisons, comparative criminology, quantitative research skills and who enjoy teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. 2/3
📢 We’re hiring a Lecturer in Criminology & Criminal Justice 📢
Please do share widely 1/3
📢New paper out! Together with Gordey Yastrebov and Thomas Leopold, we apply a bounding approach (Fosse & Winship, 2019) to APC analysis using GSOEP data to study public concern about crime in 🇩🇪. 1/2 link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Solutions must go beyond policing and CJ to include investment in housing, health, education, and community stability. Against the backdrop of today’s London protests, it’s worth remembering: addressing violence means addressing inequality.
In a soon-to-be-published paper in the British Journal of Criminology – “Increases in disadvantage and instability are associated with rising violence” – we explore how neighbourhood changes shaped violence across England and Wales from 2011–2021. The takeaway:👇
Congrats Thiago 🥳
It was my first and probably last ESC. So many sessions with so many (underdeveloped) papers/presentations and so many unnecessary questions. But Athens 😍😎
🤣
🤣
Opportunities make the thief - absence of guardianship, availability of target, and motivated offender in action
Bcz criminologists nick books from publishers at ESC

Aww thanks a lot for the photo and the chat Apriel🙂 Happy to catch up and talk about intersectionality etc.
Hearing from Dr @ferhattura19.bsky.social about intersectional analysis of risk for experiencing stranger, acquaintance or domestic violence
