Bringing climate action and #peacebuilding together is a strategic approach to build lasting stability, ensure resources are applied in a mutually reinforcing manner, and foster durable environmental and socio-economic benefits.
Together with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) and @iisd.org, we brought together policymakers, experts and practitioners to launch the new EU-funded project aimed at strengthening the alignment between peacebuilding and climate adaptation in fragile contexts.
They stressed that the different experiences and approaches were very enriching, more dialogue and cooperation between different sectors would be needed and the mainstreaming of past sensitivity is necessary to support sustainable conflict transformation.
Participants from ministries, implementing organisations and civil society discussed todays’ theory and practise of transitional justice, before diving into a fictional country case.
Last week our Global Learning Hub for #TransitionalJustice and Reconciliation conducted the third edition of the inter-ministerial seminar on transitional justice and dealing with experiences of violence, co-organised with @baks.bund.de.
“The seminar showed me how important linking different sectors is for dealing sensitively with past experiences of violence. Sensitivity towards the past must be integrated into all sectors if we are to achieve sustainable results and break cycles of violence.”
