More geophysics fun at Carrizo Plain! This GPS station behind the visitor center had good signage on the basics of why & how GPS is used for measuring the station's precise position, to measure movement along the san andreas fault.

Would have been better if they'd linked to the data, tho.

I can't agree. Catastrophic events at the global scale do occur at intervals ranging from a few decades to about 100 years. I don't see why people think we are somehow now exempt. I don't know what the wisest take is, but denying historical reality is not helpful.
