Discusses how more standard network models miss key points of brain complexity. And some more radical points at the end.
Wrote paper having in mind younger researchers more open to new ideas :-)

This will surprise you: sine and cosine are orthogonal to each other.

What does orthogonality even mean for functions? In this thread, we'll use the superpower of abstraction to go far beyond our intuition.

We'll also revolutionize science on the way.

But what is a Laplace Transform?
But what is a Laplace Transform? YouTube video by 3Blue1Brown

Ever since I made a video about Fourier Transforms, one of the most requested topics on the channel has been its close cousin, the Laplace Transform.

I've been having a lot of fun animating a mini-series about this topic, and the main part is now out.

Canonical correlation analysis reveals five sleep-biopsychosocial profiles (LCs). Scatter plots showing correlations between biopsychosocial and sleep canonical scores. Each dot represents a different participant. The inset shows the null distribution of canonical correlations obtained by permutation testing; note that the null distribution is not centered at zero. The dashed line indicates the actual canonical correlation computed for each LC. The distribution of sleep (top) and biopsychosocial (right) canonical scores is shown on rain cloud plots.

Itโ€™s been a long journey, but a rewarding one! Ten years ago we developed an Open Access test for pragmatic impairment in neurological populations. @federico_frau @VBambini and colleagues now summarize the results and links with ToM. Check it out! ๐Ÿ‘‡

Thank you @santhouse.bsky.social for this exploration of the blurry line between healthy and ill, of how cultural norms affect our views of who is ill. It highlights challenges when we get this wrong - like raising awareness without having sufficient answers. A very curageous and necessary book!

Matrix factorizations are the pinnacle results of linear algebra.

From theory to applications, they are behind many theorems, algorithms, and methods. However, it is easy to get lost in the vast jungle of decompositions.

This is how to make sense of them.

Great work highlighting the importance of taking into account the multiplicity of available measures for FC. As a side thought, lots depends on how we define what is "best". Probably we also need better theories to guide data analysis.
