Two new barn owl boxes funded by Bucks Bird Club went up today near Marsh Gibbon.These boxes are part of a new farmer cluster on the River Ray. 10 boxes funded by the club and to be installed over 2 years - thanks to all club members - your membership being put to good use πππ

Out looking for displaying Goshawk. Super surprised to see see a Marsh Harrier enjoying the thermals. Similar area to where the Berks/Bucks/Oxon Booted Eagle was a couple of years ago so this intially got the heart thumping! π @bucksbirdclub81.bsky.social

Many thanks to Ed Griffiths for the BBC guided trip around BBOWT College Lake this morning. Considering the weather recently we were lucky to have a dry day. It was great seeing new faces, new members, new comers to birding and of course the Slavonian Grebe. 34# species

A good morning to be out and about in Bucks. Slavonian Grebe still at College Lake (first in the county since 2021). 43 Russian Whitefronts in the fields just outside Ivinghoe, and two Marsh Harriers at Gallows Bridge. Thereβs also a Smew in the Herts section of Marsworth Reservoir.

2026's local birding in Milton Keynes off to a good start with over 60 species within 4 miles of home in the past few days, highlights featuring one of the wintering Firecrests kindly sticking around, 1st-winter Yellow-legged Gull and a 3rd-winter Caspian Gull. @bucksbirdclub81.bsky.social
Tundra Bean Goose at Maplin Park near Langley this afternoon. My luck was in when it took off with the local Greylags (and 11 Whitefronts), and flew into Buckinghamshire. First county tick of the year !

Arrived at #LMGP this morning just as news broke of 4 Red-crested Pochards having been found. First of the year here and #136 for my patch year list. Still hoping to add to that with the current influx of near continental geese and swans #UKBirding
This hybrid Tufted Duck x Pochard is back at #LMGP for its 7th winter. Not always on Spade Oak lake, but has been there several times in December #UKBirding
