Counterpoint— Muppet Christmas Carol has Michael Caine playing an entirely serious, almost Shakespearean Scrooge in a sequence where he witnesses the aftermath of the death of Kermit’s sickly child and it’s one of the BEST Muppet movies.

I think a number of developers underestimate how willing players are to play video games that look like video games. Many would gladly enjoy games graphically similar to 2004-2010 as long as they look crisp with minimal compression artifacts and modern resolution at ~60+FPS
And unlike the dot com bubble there isn’t an underlying paradigm shifting technology— just some tools that have useful edge case uses. But hopefully the bubble bursting ironically leads to more jobs lol
