The war sidelined this from the news, but dissent continues www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Iranβs people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
Happy international women's day, ladies. The mood this year.
Just fascinating to see Blair, a man whose reputation was ruined by the Iraq war, advocate joining a war that is exponentially stupider and more chaotic. How is it possible to learn nothing from the worst mistake of your life?

Paging feminist security studiesβ¦.
This is a real video from the official White House account on a war that is currently killing people. I donβt know how the US is going to come back from this.

Truly frightening.
I hope they asked very nicely and make sure to say than you and be appropriately grateful: Iβm told these things are very very important.
There is just something deeply disturbing and offensive about watching a Labour govt keep kicking the most vulnerable in our society.
We are enthousiasticly violating IHL!!! This is cartoonish.
It is quite astonishing to remember the Iraq war, the demise of a brutal dictator there, the principled opposition of France and Germany, the chaos and regional instability that followed vindicating French and German opposition - and to see only Sanchez have the courage to take a stance.

Yep. We are competing with established academics for fixed term postdocs and temporary teaching cover posts too.

I suppose it's impressive that Starmer managed to maintain the correct moral and political position for all of ten minutes. Some kind of record.
Good that some Labour politicians draw the right conclusions. I am a broken record on this but Labour is repeating the same mistakes that other social democratic parties made in Europe. Some fragmentation is unavoidable but this is mostly the result of the strategic mistake to abandon progressives.
Weird that Reform is OK with Irish citizens voting but not commonwealth ones. Wonder what the difference could be?
"Trying to compete with Reform not only feels inauthentic... but a betrayal of what Labour is supposed to represent. We must address the concerns and fears of voters, not play on them."

It's exhausting living through an entire verse of "We Didn't Start the Fire" every day.
At the weekend, Iβve started buying a paper on a Saturday or Sunday. Thereβs something nice about reading it with a mug of tea. Iβve noticed that the way I engage is different compared to reading it online. Itβs more of a time to pause, rather than just scrolling through. So, thatβs my evening.π
Today was a busy but lovely day. Visiting a family member for their birthday in the morning, then an afternoon trip to the cinema.

I know I keep pointing this out but: if you want immigrants to contribute to British society, integrate across community lines, become engaged civic actors, you actually *want* them to get citizenship, and as soon as possible in fact!
Looking at the record of military interventions since 9/11, the Western ability to determine political outcomes on the ground in the Middle East via the use of force seems limited, to put it mildly.
What we have seen in Gorton and Denton is what we saw in Caerphilly in October.
A lot of people really donβt want the hateful politics of Reform and will work hard and smart to try and keep them out.
Labour must now listen to this and stop the grim attempts to mimic Farage.
