I want to administer a welcoming hug but also one that comes with a series of mysterious images—a chandelier falling, orchid blooming, an old car pulled from a dark lake, say—that flash through my hug partner’s head.

Brilliant
"Since then the Vision Zero deadline came and went, pedestrian fatalities and injuries have continued to rise. Fatalities were actually 40% higher in 2024 than in 2014, the year they set the goal."
This is one reason I've spent so much time building a credible, funded plan. The goal isn't enough.
me: *screaming into the abyss*
the abyss: this could have been an email
the only thing I want from an algorithmic feed is read/unread control: I don’t want to scroll past the same thing twice. Jury is still out if I can do this with a custom thing here or if it’s stuck as a client feature. (Rip Apollo for doing this on Reddit, we miss you) (and sideload it sometimes)

Meanwhile in Bend (last civilization before the Ore-Ida French fry plant on the border) we wonder if the rural Oregonians hell-bent on self-determination understand how much cash OR transfers to them for basic infra, fire management, etc etc etc… then they edited us out of “Greater” Idaho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
oh wait I forgot safari on iPhone just Doesn’t Sync Good when you drag and drop a tab from its main tab set to any others. I’ve started screenshotting before moving anything bc it tends to lose after sync. And bc the close was via sync, not a close action, you can’t use “reopen closed tab”
And I’ve never forgiven Safari on iPadOS for tossing out *several* sets of tabs in the last upgrade. Rescued them with a backup of CloudTabs.db and a lot of work but that was the last straw
apps that lost data across the Ventura upgrade boundary? Nothing third party, just all of Apple’s: Notes (closed all my open notes! excellente.) Mail (been here enough times to not even be surprised; reset selected mailboxes across several windows). open windows are data and you lost them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
