Yes, this! Then run the blue line down Columbia Pike and branch the yellow line south of King St.

Arlington or NoVa in general or Fairlington specifically?
Real estate listing for 2935 S Columbus St, Arlington, Virginia.
If you don't build new housing, old housing becomes luxury housing, example 749,900. When Fairlington was converted to condos in 1972, the units went for around $32,000, which would be about $244,000 in today's dollars.
If you can completely clear your driveway for two cars, you should be able to find a way to clear the sidewalk in front of your house. The snow storm was more than 8 days ago.
Packed room to talk about fare free transit at #TRBAM.
βThe Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.β

What do people think they are accomplishing when they send nasty messages to their civic association board members? And the juvenile insult. I mean come on, I'm not a Mellinneial and I'm way too old to do pub crawls.
I should qualify this statement that the most convenient aspect to a visitor was this feature. Broadly the best feature was how frequent the service was, across all the Metro and bus lines we used.
The most convenient aspect of the system is the ability to tap to pay with any kind of bank card. That let all three of us easily and quickly use the system from the moment we got to Athens.
A quick visit to Athens included some short trips on Metro Lines 1 & 2, plus some short bus trips, followed by a long trek to the Airport on Line 3. Every trip was full, including a sardine-can experience on the A2 bus line in the afternoon. The morning trip (pictured) was half empty by comparison.
Thessaloniki Metro Line 1. Just over a year old. Still has the shiny look and new metro smell. Automated, screen doors on all the platforms, and it's quite frequent, even on Boxing Day. Roman ruins uncovered during construction are visible at Venizelou station. Fare machines could be improved.
Finally got to visit the Schwebebahn in Wuppertal as part of a family tour of German Christmas Markets. Quite fun and an interesting way to squeeze a rapid transit line into a tight space. Has the frequency but the cars are rather small and quite full with the shoppers!
A few thoughts on why the latent popularity of car-free living hasnβt translated to the funding changes necessary to make it possible:
The millions of people who would like to drive less arenβt organized, so elected officials rarely hear from them, allowing the car-dominated status quo to fester.
I'm not sure Microsoft knows what Teams is.
Reminder: autonomous vehicles don't solve the geometric problem of space in cities and may make the problem worse by turning parking into traffic.
Thanks for sharing! It's a tough fiscal situation. We did design a longer term, Growth network that expands service but there's no identified funding for it at this time.
Raisins, no. Pecans, yes! But then again I'm half-Canadian, half-Southern, so I see them as mini pecan pies.
In urban planning, density is what prevents loss of nature. If you like nature you need to like density.
Funny thing is that's not a quote from someone else. It's directly his writing. Couldn't find anyone to launder his opinions through on that one. I particularly love the use of "whopping". His big tell is the gratuitous adjectives.
Today's installment in this evergreen thread: "Clement began raising this issue in political races a decade ago. Changing circumstances, including a whopping 22.4% office-vacancy rate in the county, have brought many to her point of view." www.arlnow.com/2025/06/03/d...
I've always loved the exposed rock at MARTA's Peachtree Center in downtown Atlanta.
Sure, and Metro's early planners didn't expect that to happen at that site. They were much more focused on suburban commutes to downtown than suburban redevelopment. So they went with the cheap option to achieve their primary goal at the time.
Even if you stayed west side at King St you'd have to cross the RR south of there for the Huntington branch and to reach the yard on the blue line branch.
Yes, but if you crossed over to the west side on the tracks north of Braddock you'd have to cross back over before King St station, since nearly all the significant activity there is east of the tracks.
The Braddock Rd thing is bc it was much cheaper to follow the RR ROW and not have to cross over it twice.
Very small and unusual situation, but Interurban Trolley in Elkhart, Indiana is administered by the regional MPO (MACOG).
In the DC region we could definitely do better on the overall bus system wayfinding, mapping, schedule and other customer information. It's a challenge with multiple operators (Metrobus, ART, DASH, etc).
Are you coming to #TRBAM 2025? If so, let's catch up while you're in DC!
Excited the full details of the MARTA NextGen Bus Network launched this week.
We're particularly proud of the Compare Your Access tool: nextgenbusdraftnetwork.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html
Next virtual meeting is Dec 17 at noon.
You can submit a comment on the website. Or reach out to anyone in the MARTA service planning team.
