The amount of people I've talked to who try and argue with me that thing is bad with their entire argument being, "Go watch this person's video" is so much higher than it should be. Kind of proves they don't actually have a real thought about it themselves.
There is a LOT of stuff happening now in the era of social media that is cheapening almost every discussion topic because too many people are only using them as a means of making money. Say something purely to get more eyeballs on you who can throw money at you.
Pretty much. But that's only some of the people. There are plenty of people who see the people doing that and go, "Ya, that makes sense" and then do it "normally"
There are people in servers I see a LOT who drink that haterade all the time. And when I use their own lack of logic on stuff I know they like, they get SUPER defensive.
Exactly. There are some stuff I love that do things I think were bad. There are stuff I hate which do things I think are cool. But today, most people just go, "I hate it (or YTer said it's bad) therefore it's bad" with no more thought at all.

Sadly, I feel like they are showing they don't care. I feel like they are just trying to ride the anti-Twitter wave and think it will carry them forever. Which wouldn't be the 1st time I've seen that. Streaming site a few years ago tried to do nothing but ride Twitch hate waves. And died for it.
I know, right? Finding someone to have a REAL conversation with is becoming like finding a unicorn. And it's not even about finding someone who agrees with you. It's about finding someone who has their own real opinions and will argue/debate in earnest and not simply attack.

I feel like at least a part of the problem anymore is absolutely trashing on everything is how you get easy views/clicks on social media places and such. So the people who only care about that do it. Which then fuels other people to do it too.
Stupid garbage like this. You might not be a fan of SAO. That's cool. There are plenty of anime I am not quite fond of or care for myself. Even really popular anime. But SAO is anything but "repulsive." But hey, trashing something on the internet gets you ALL the clicks and that's what matters most.

I framed it as, "It's just not for me" because that's what it SHOULD be. A simple thought of, "I don't like this, but other people might." But what I said in how they frame it is what I see ALL THE DAMN TIME!!! And also yes, I did just experience it last night and it was stupidly annoying as always.

Been saying that for years. Nothing wrong with having qualms about stuff. Personal opinions are personal. But rather than focusing everything to telling people how "bad" X is, why not use that energy to tell people how awesome Y is instead since you supposedly like Y.
Nothing should be enjoyed. Everything is bad. Except the Social Media sanctioned stuff that is.
It is so stupidly common anymore and VERY annoying. Delt with it last night with someone talking about Echoes of Aincrad. It really was just a "not for me" situation as they want an online game or play as Kirito. But because it's neither of those, the game is stupid and no one asked for it.
The games all took place inside... the game (No clue how else to word that :P) while the Liminality OVAs all took place in the real world around the same time. Was just a way to get more info of what is going on outside the game with other characters inadvertently doing what you were doing in game.
If your entire argument against something boils down to, "It's just not for me" but you have to frame it as, "This thing is complete dogshit and never should have been made and you are stupid if you like it and..." then kindly fuck off. Please. Stop mindlessly hating stuff. For clout or otherwise.
