Oh gosh what a loss. And what a dream interview that must have been
This is extremely provocative chat for a Thursday evening π
Off to London! It's going to be a hot one. I've got a couple of hours to kill when I arrive and normally I would go for a long walk, but today I think all I'll be able to manage is a pub garden. π Does anyone know a nice sunny spot in Notting Hill??
If like me you've ever been accused of being born in a barn and want to chat about it, remember: my door is always open.
This is on my to read list! π

It has tight plotting, unpredictable twists, sketchy narrators, and loads of tension. There's also a really fresh police procedural strand to this, so it's a must-have for all crime readers. I love all the brilliant and unusual details crammed into this story that make every page a joy to read.
Hot debut alert!
It's one month until the release of this incredible debut thriller from the unstoppable creative force that is @sarahgovett.bsky.social I've read it, and BELIEVE when I say this book has everything you could ever want from a psychological thriller.
I bet! It must be exhausting. But well done!
Really admire your tireless campaigning, Philippa! V cool

It's a week into the school holidays, and, as I'm already running out of ideas, we we went on an Easter hunt - for a tree.
Thanks to @mooseallain.bsky.social who once embarked on a similar excursion, the vague memory of which inspired ours
This oak was around long before our house was built and will outlive us. We'll be even fonder of it now.
When we got back, my son said: Dad, can we go looking for more trees tomorrow?
We looked back, trying to spot our house, but the view that way was crap by comparison. Trees are better to look at than houses.
It is magnificent - quite literally outstanding in its field - and fully deserves its place at the high point of this great city.
I have to say it is even more majestic than I could've hoped for, and the pictures taken on my budget phone do not do it justice. What was interesting is we recognised it instantly, even though we'd previously only viewed it from a distance of three miles.
we found it!
And, after a little walk...
So... we drove my end-of-life CitroΓ«n up to Dundry and parked up in what we thought was roughly the right spot. We lucked upon a footpath.
Every day, my eye is drawn to a large and lonely oak that sits on the brow of that hill. I spend a lot of time looking at this tree, and my son and I agreed we should go and find it and maybe see what our house looks like from the other side.
We are lucky that our house has a view of Dundry Hill, the highest point in Bristol.
