I was thinking this morning of how much I hate it when joggers or bicyclists clog up drop off & dismissal time.
That these cretins are doing it is continues to be beyond the pale. #abolishICE
All of the videos were about how these young people weren’t as good at art or whatever as they wanted to be. Like, not living up to your potential is a bummer but not as much as being blown to bits.
There are more instances of United States Citizens being detained by ICE than there are of illegal immigrants voting in elections.
Wet & Wild, by that I mean a big water park in Orlando that we went to frequently every summer as teenagers. A golden age.
In the theme of my "we can change a lot by informing rural communities about datacenter ROI" fun, here's the alternative scenario of "rural landowners that don't need any of your tech bullshit and care for their neighbors."

Unbelievably true. I have zero push notifications on my phone for any apps except text messages.
Day to day there is a lot of winging it but overall I plan maybe too much.

There was definitely a moment where there were 1800 YouTube shorts made to a clip of “Army Dreamers.”
(The song was wildly misinterpreted, but anyway.)
being a classical musician is expensive as shit, this isn't really a huge number until you look at what they bought
Also, many, many museums and research libraries have digitized historic collections and have free images available for download for many (even all) purposes.
Don't wreck the planet and participate in training surveillance capitalism systems. There's no excuse.
worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.
oh my GOD
woof lol
“Bluesky pianists’ expertise suddenly becoming relevant to issues of US military spending” was not on my bingo card but here we are
Help DOZENS of students in Gaza City access fundamental rights: education & internet.

And that was 100% the fault of the elder rock institutions. A huge self-own. Mainstream rock (not like indie-aligned stuff) in the 00s was absolute sludge.
I know you know this as a parent but the amount of 90s rehash that comes up strictly through social media, mostly YouTube. Wild.
I did have an adorable 3rd grader ask me if I liked Metallica the other day.
Wait for Gen Alpha. When my kid started to lecture me about Weezer…
This is so so so so important. Kids having context is much more important than us being relatable.
Also it’s really neat when you hit an unexpected nerve. I was playing Alicia Keys 15 years ago & a kid looks up & says “that’s the music my mom cleans the house to.”
3. We're educators! If students already knew everything, we wouldn't have a job! And honestly a lot of us can give younger generations a more nuanced picture of Elvis and his cultural position than the uncritical hero-worship we osmosed when we were young.

A picture of a picture of me, age 6, circa 1989, holding a bound copy of “My Favrit Fairy Tales” by Emily Scott. I wrote it & drew all of the pictures in a post-kindergarten summer program. Little me has brown hair pulled back, some sort of late 80s dress with a bow on it, and fairly big glasses. The photo is black & white and has the words “This is who wrote a book” superimposed in pink at the top.
A photo of me, age 43, circa 2026, holding my first published book in my hands. It has a black paperback cover with the text A Rebel Music Teacher Guide to Teachable Features in Popular Music on the cover. I still have brown hair and huge glasses. The words “That you can now get on JWPepper” are superimposed in pink over the photo of me wearing a black & white outfit.
Posted this elsewhere but this is my “this is who…” photo self promotion. Thread below at where you can buy my book!
First here, newly available at JWPepper:

I’m so glad I’m not 12 miles from Mar-a-Lago anymore.
“poor little bug on the wall…”
I’ve only listened to a couple of tracks & thought same.
