Soon the war escalates and Tyrion can see Daenerys starting to crack. She heeds his advice less and less and often questions whose side Tyrion is on. By the sack of King's Landing, he feels Daenerys is not fit to rule. He advises Jon Snow to end the problem. He later becomes Hand to the new King.

Varys then smuggles him to Essos, where he is captured by Jorah Mormont and taken before Daenerys Targaryen. He ends up becoming Daenerys's Hand. He often cautions her against acting impulsively with violence. She does not always heed his advice. He reunites with Jon Snow and aids him in his mission

He is soon accused of killing Joffrey at his wedding. He is put on trial and demands a trial by combat. His unlikely champion is Oberyn Martell, while Cersei's is the Mountain. Oberyn is killed by the Mountain and Tyrion is sentenced to death. He is freed by Jaime and he kills Tywin.

Tyrion is then drawn into the vast "game of thrones", often a pawn in his father's plans. He even ends up married off to Sansa Stark due to this. He refuses to consummate the marriage due to her age and the fact that he had not agreed to the marriage in the first place.

He finds that accusation absurd since he had nothing to do with that either. He feels that Lysa Arryn is just looking for a Lannister to blame and he seems to be the most convenient. He befriends a sellsword named Bronn, who is his champion in the trial by combat. Bronn wins and saves Tyrion's life.

Tywin puts a stop to it and Tyrion comes to despise his father for it as he felt that he was in love at the time. He ends up blamed for Ned and Catelyn Stark's son Bran being pushed from a tower window and crippled, an act he had nothing to do with. He is also blamed for the death of Jon Arryn.

He studies the histories and such, keen to keep his mind sharp as he cannot be a renowned fighter like Jaime. His father often denies that Tyrion is his son, which hurts Tyrion more than he tends to let on. He is often found drinking and whoring, much to Tywin's annoyance. He even weds a whore once.

Tyrion Lannister is the youngest child of Lord Tywin Lannister and his wife Joanna. His birth was the death of his mother and caused his father and sister to despise him. He is a dwarf, which Tywin despises. His sister Cersei often refers to him as a monster. His only ally is his brother Jaime.
