It’s been long enough since I played Final Fantasy VII I forgot how much of a ‘too cool edgy boy’ Vincent is. The slow-mo backflip out of his coffin in PSX field graphics is incredible. #FFVII

It could be that Baki is just young here, and the much harder personality he adopts, especially during Son of the Ogre, is a natural development. While I like both takes on him, I’m definitely liking younger Baki more.

The first series still features absolutely insane fights with shit that couldn’t happen, but the stakes are still more grounded and real. I think this is really reflected in Baki himself.

After having watched the Netflix series I’ve been reading the original Baki manga now that it’s been released in English. It’s kind of outstanding how similar and yet different the original is from what comes later.
