5/ These aren’t one-offs but examples of a bigger tension. When parties feel like top-down machines, some MPs choose to walk away rather than stay silent.
We unpack these stories in No “I” in Team — on independents, floor-crossers, and the limits of party loyalty.

4/ As D’Entremont, Louise Beaudoin also left the Parti Quebecois on Jun. 6, 2011, after considerable differences with the party leader, Pauline Marois. She cited specific issues with Marois’ leadership style. Beaudoin sat as an Independent after leaving the party.

3/ On Nov. 9, 2010 Bill Bennett was kicked out of the BC Liberal caucus after a “scathing public rat” on Premier Gordon Campbell’s leadership style. He decided to sit as an Independent for a year but later rejoined the party under new leadership.
