something that continually frustrates me about ADHD discourse is that there are these constant echoes of some of the origins of ADHD as like "these kids can't sit still in school" and so there's an idea that maybe if school wasn't like it is kids with ADHD would do fine in it

Let's be real. I get paid Tech Money a year to do stuff like, "figure out what this AI stuff can and cannot do to help us do things at work", and my employer otherwise has a big net benefit to humanity.

you know what pisses me off more than anything? I am very 'sloppy' when it comes to like artistic fine motor skills so I DESPERATELY wanted to build models as a kid and had fun with it and they all looked like I'd dipped my fingers in glue and spare paint and fingerprinted all over them.

I am SO FUCKIN GLAD that my parents both a) really dug into why I was struggling at school and got me diagnosed as ADHD, and b) also encouraged me to get into the gifted and talented program, where I got to build an ion gun and play with a 100w CO2 laser. In 8th grade.

also, whenever I do pictures of myself but don't include my eyes (like a costume where I've covered up my eyes) and I show it to older people they go "I wish I could see your eyes"

Fursonas are interesting because there are kinda two big camps: the “OC” as fursona (me); and “me as a furry” (not me).

In fact trying to do the latter made me feel uncomfortable, like things I consider annoying about myself were really evident in the personal fursona option.
