Uise it to write those pesky emails for you! Clock: No, thx. I prefer to choose my own words with intent. And I kinda like writing emails. Clock is now washing dishes by hand in the sink, and AIguy is once more behind him and not helping with the work. AIguy: How about READING? Why spend time reading a book when AI can read it for you and tell you about it! Clock: No thx. I like reading. I'd never get the collaborative journey of an author's words and my subjective interpretations of their work if I did that.
Clock is now seated on the bed, folding laundry from a basket. AIguy is leaning on the basket and still leering, unhelpful. AIguy: Design?! Gone are the days of cringey sparkledogs, now just as GenAI to instantly create professional looking art! Clock: No. Developing my own artistic and design skill over time is a very fulfilling activity. And I like to see people new to it doing it their own way, sparkledogs rule that way. Clock is running the vaccum, looking less annoyed and more bored of this by now. AIguy's smile is faultering and he's sweating as he continues to try to grab Clock's attention. AIguy: W-What about code? Why learn to do it yourself when you can VIBECODE a new website or game! Clock: Hell no. I taught myself HTML in 1995. I still make my own websites. I enjoy learning new tricks with CSS... And if I need help, I have loads of real friends who work in tech and know like six code languages off the cuff.
It was inevitable- AIguy is mad and frowning, raging at Clock's back. Clock is walking away, annoyed. AIguy is screaming all the tired awful arguments - that rejecting AI is tantamount to ableism, that genAI is here to stay, that they should be allowed to profit from and steal from the full bredth of the internet, that they haven't trained on any minorities but instead have trained on Reddit and top google searches and that's the same as being omnipotent. That CEOs never make mistakes that screw the rest of the planet, and especially not mistakes that only benefit them as rich white cis men. That rejecting AI usage will bring about some nonsense scary "singularity" where ai goes all skynet on us for being mean to it. That Clock has no idea what he wants from the future and no vision for what would be helpful. Clock, meanwhile, is dreaming of Rosie the robot from the Jetsons, with little hearts all around her. Oh Rosie, you'd have helped with the chores. Wish u were real. stinger text: Your GenAI is useless and sucks.
